The reasons that coaching works so well and can produce such dramatic results are grounded in psychology, so it follows that some of the most powerful coaching methods available draw on psychological thinking. Published with the Association for Coaching, Mastery in Coaching presents the latest thinking on the most effective techniques coaches can use with their clients. Every chapter is written by a leading expert in the field, and takes a rigorous, evidence-based approach which will give you a practical understanding of each method, supported with examples, and underpinned by the theory of the key psychological concepts in coaching. Ranging from cognitive-behavioural coaching, gestalt and positive psychology to neuroscience and mindfulness, this indispensable book will give any serious coach the tools they need to get the best from their clients.

This book is about expanding perspectives on common aspects of conflict experiences - before, during, and after they arise - through the use of reflective questions and commentary. Metaphors, plays on words, and other questioning methods invite readers to think and feel differently about these aspects and try new and different ways of viewing and being in conflict. The questions are also designed to expand the quest to become more conflict masterful by making the route there more interesting and positive.

One of my goals for 2016 was to publish a LinkedIn post every week of the year. My original intent was to promote to the oil-and-gas industry how performance coaching helps project teams, while providing nuggets of information about accelerated improvement, inspiring leadership, and innovative collaboration to my LinkedIn network in general. The reality is that I discovered my calling. I found that as the year progressed, I had more ideas, not fewer, about what subject matter to explore next. I found that the words just flowed onto the pages and that I looked forward to publishing something new each week. It was not a chore; it was an indulgence! More importantly, my articles seemed to generate discussion and attract a positive response. This made me realize that there was a demand for what I enjoy offering the communityperformance coaching insights from the front line. This book is the first installment of fifty-two insights, but I intend to publish again and again. My weekly inspiration is unlikely to wane any time soon.

Presence-Based Coaching offers coaches a hands-on resource for developing the capacities and skills needed to be reliably present in all situations, and shows how to let go of habitual—and often ineffective—ways of responding. As author and leadership expert Doug Silsbee explains, once a coach has mastered the inner moves of directing their own attention, they can work to develop the same capability in their clients. The ability of a coach to facilitate lasting, sustainable development in leaders rests on the presence a coach offers to the coach-client relationship.
