The Passion is the patent proof of God's love for men. That proof must be examined in detail, if it is to be brought home to our heart. The Passion is summed up in the Crucifix. When the Crucifix stands out before our eyes we contemplate the greatest manifestation of God's love for man. But to understand the Crucifix aright we must have travelled through the stages of the Passion. Neither shall we understand the living mystery of God's love for us in the Eucharist unless we have understood the mystery of the Passion.
