One of the main goals of this meeting was to present different research directions being pursued by young Mexican mathematicians based in other countries, such as Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Estonia, Germany, Spain and the United States, showcasing research lines currently underrepresented in Mexico. Featured are survey and research articles in six areas: algebra, analysis, applied mathematics, geometry, probability and topology. Their topics range from current developments related to well-known open problems to novel interactions between pure mathematics and computer science. Most of the articles provide a panoramic view of the fields and problems the authors work on, making the book accessible to advanced graduate students and researchers in mathematics from different fields. This book is published in cooperation with Sociedad Matemática Mexicana.

This volume contains the proceedings of the Second Workshop of Mexican Mathematicians Abroad (II Reunión de Matemáticos Mexicanos en el Mundo), held from December 15–19, 2014, at Centro de Investigación en Matemáticas (CIMAT) in Guanajuato, Mexico. This meeting was the second in a series of ongoing biannual meetings aimed at showcasing the research of Mexican mathematicians based outside of Mexico. The book features articles drawn from eight broad research areas: algebra, analysis, applied mathematics, combinatorics, dynamical systems, geometry, probability theory, and topology. Their topics range from novel applications of non-commutative probability to graph theory, to interactions between dynamical systems and geophysical flows. Several articles survey the fields and problems on which the authors work, highlighting research lines currently underrepresented in Mexico. The research-oriented articles provide either alternative approaches to well-known problems or new advances in active research fields. The wide selection of topics makes the book accessible to advanced graduate students and researchers in mathematics from different fields.

Articles in this volume are based on presentations given at the IV Meeting of Mexican Mathematicians Abroad (IV Reunión de Matemáticos Mexicanos en el Mundo), held from June 10–15, 2018, at Casa Matemática Oaxaca (CMO), Mexico. This meeting was the fourth in a series of ongoing biannual meetings bringing together Mexican mathematicians working abroad with their peers in Mexico. This book features surveys and research articles from five broad research areas: algebra, analysis, combinatorics, geometry, and topology. Their topics range from general relativity and mathematical physics to interactions between logic and ergodic theory. Several articles provide a panoramic view of the fields and problems on which the authors are currently working on, showcasing diverse research lines complementary to those currently pursued in Mexico. The research-oriented manuscripts provide either alternative approaches to well-known problems or new advances in active research fields.

This anthology presents a comprehensive review of mathematics and its teaching in the following nations in South America, Central America, and the Caribbean: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, México, Panamá, Paraguay, Perú, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. Nonassociative mathematics is a broad research area that studies mathematical structures violating the associative law x(yz)=(xy)z. The topics covered by nonassociative mathematics include quasigroups, loops, Latin squares, Lie algebras, Jordan algebras, octonions, racks, quandles, and their applications. This volume contains the proceedings of the Fourth Mile High Conference on Nonassociative Mathematics, held from July 29–August 5, 2017, at the University of Denver, Denver, Colorado. Included are research papers covering active areas of investigation, survey papers covering Leibniz algebras, self-distributive structures, and rack homology, and a sampling of applications ranging from Yang-Mills theory to the Yang-Baxter equation and Laver tables. An important aspect of nonassociative mathematics is the wide range of methods employed, from purely algebraic to geometric, topological, and computational, including automated deduction, all of which play an important role in this book.

As an historiographic monograph, this book offers a detailed survey of the professional evolution and significance of an entire discipline devoted to the history of science. It provides both an intellectual and a social history of the development of the subject from the first such effort written by the ancient Greek author Eudemus in the Fourth Century BC, to the founding of the international journal, Historia Mathematica, by Kenneth O. May in the early 1970s.

This volume contains the proceedings of the Workshop and 18th International Conference on Representations of Algebras (ICRA 2018) held from August 8–17, 2018, in Prague, Czech Republic. It presents several themes of contemporary representation theory together with some new tools, such as stable ∞ ∞-categories, stable derivators, and contramodules. In the first part, expanded lecture notes of four courses delivered at the workshop are presented, covering the representation theory of finite sets with correspondences, geometric theory of quiver Grassmannians, recent applications of contramodules to tilting theory, as well as symmetries in the representation theory over an abstract stable homotopy theory. The second part consists of six more-advanced papers based on plenary talks of the conference, presenting selected topics from contemporary representation theory: recollements and purity, maximal green sequences, cohomological Hall algebras, Hochschild cohomology of associative algebras, cohomology of local selfinjective algebras, and the higher Auslander–Reiten theory studied via homotopy theory.
