Monet National Gallery Of Art Keepsake Boxed Notecards

The pleaseant outdoor scenes shown on the cards of Galison's Monet National Gallery of Art set are suitable for any time you need to write a note. There are four cards each showing details from four of the National Gallery's most popular paintings by visitor favorite Claude Monet:The Artist's Garden in Argenteuil (A Corner of the Garden with Dahlias, 1873; The Bridge at Argenteuil, 1874; The Japanese Footbridge, 1899; and The Artist's Garden at Vetheuil, 1880. All are oil on canvas paintings. Galison's Monet Waterlily Garden keepsake box of cards features a view of the famous Japanese bridge in the artist's garden at Giverny from White Waterlilies, 1899, in the Pushkin Museum, Moscow on the outside of the box. The image is reproduced on four of the 16 cards inside. Other waterlily images included are: Waterlilies, 1906, from the Worcester Art Museum, Massachusetts; Waterlilies and The Agapanthus both painted 1914-17 and both from the Musee Marmottan, Paris. Galison's lovely Impressionists by the Water cards reproduce details of four different painters working on the shore: a woman in white gazing over the ocean in Childe Hassam's 1913 The South Ledges, Appledore; bathers frolicking on the beach at The Captain's Pier, by William Glackens; the red boats in Monet's Argenteuil from 1875; and a Renoir painting of figures on the beach with red-roofed houses and hills in the background.

Austrian Gustav Klimt is known for his sensuous, golden prtraits of women, and of course for his most reproduced painting, The Kiss. In Galison's Klimt Mother and Child keepsake box of cards, details of four Klimt paintings are reproduced on four cards each. The subjects of the paintings range from Expectation (c. 1905-09, Austrian Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna) to The Kiss (1907-08, Oesterreichische Galerie Belvedere, Vienna) and Fulfillment (c.1905-09, Austrian Museum of Applied Arts), to the final tender depiction of a sleeping mother and small child, a detail from The Three Ages of Women, (1905, Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna, Rome). Presents the paintings Monet executed on the Italian and French Rivieras in 1884 and 1888

On Turner's 1826 journey through Brittany and up the River Loire, he filled several sketchbooks with hasty impressions of famous chateaux. Many of his sketches are identified and reproduced here for the first time, together with all of the justly celebrated watercolors that Turner produced to be engraved in 1833. Turner was at the forefront of an invasion of the Loire region by artists, most of whom were British, as is plain from illustrated examples by contemporaries such as Samuel Prout, William Callow, and Clarkson Stanfield, as well as views by French artists like Delacroix.
