An inside look at how women athletes are leading the fight for equality—on and off the field Women’s sports receive a fraction of the airtime allotted for men’s sports, as well as a fraction of the marketing dollars, media coverage, and training resources. For every dollar that the NBA’s highest-paid player brings home, the WNBA’s highest-paid player earns just half a cent. But while misogyny in sports is particularly visible, it’s not unique. Women athletes face the same sexist barriers found in all career fields: the motherhood penalty, transphobia and misogynoir, underpromotion, and more. But women in sports are fighting back, debunking myths that women aren’t as skilled, competitive, or capable of generating revenue as men. Drawing on exclusive interviews with prominent athletes—including Allyson Felix, Megan Rapinoe, and Billie Jean King—journalist Macaela Mackenzie shows how women are using sports as a platform for change. As women athletes push for the same things all women want in their careers—money, power, and respect—their wins are showing the rest of us what’s possible in the fight for equality.

Most people associate Hill Harper with Hollywood, as he’s appeared in dozens of films and television shows. But he is just as comfortable in a school auditorium, rousing groups of students with his unique style of real-life wisdom. Having addressed thousands of high-school and middle- school students over the years, Hill is ready to take his message to an even wider audience. Letters to a Young Brother is drawn from the humbling life lessons he learned on the road to his Ivy League education and beyond. Inspired by the countless letters and e-mails he has received from teens, Hill Harper set out to write a series of letters to young people that would catch the attention of even the most reluctant readers. The result is a motivational but approachable book full of encouragement on a wide array of hot topics, particularly among young African-American and Hispanic men. From the challenges of getting a good education and making it through college to the media’s destructive emphasis on material wealth, Letters to a Young Brother delivers eye-opening answers. Reminiscent of Marian Wright Edelman’s New York Times bestseller, The Measure of Our Success: A Letter to My Children and Yours, Hill Harper’s words will resonate for years to come.

This publishment took 20 years to write and 10 years to start, so it's really a bargain buy. I have seen my nieces and nephews grow and my mother pass away while writing this book. I've thrown my brain at it and some of that time was spent in recursion, and some of it was showing it to other people whom had little or nothing to say about it except to comment that Life is more complicated than that, if they said anything at all. Mostly, this could have been simply diagrams as they are the main thrust and unlocked with simple Venn gate logic and a simple understanding of addition with a healthy dose of what it means to be. Life is complicated, I get that. Life is also simple, I get that. And with understanding the multiple realities we exist within, the playing field of life becomes abundantly clear that everything is a game if it doesn't free us from oppression, give liberty in what we do, and bring us Justice. Fusionpower isour possibilityandpromise that we've inherited, that we did not earn.

Personas of a Project II By: J. Wiggins aka Official Personas of a Project II is a book of poems, quotes to live by, AOLs (Analogies of Life), and illustrations that encompasses Official’s life and imagination in an artistically and purposely designed manner, or as he puts it in one of the enclosed pieces, “It’s like an intricate exhibit astronomically presented in a manner exquisite by my nature as intended.” The subtitle of this book, “Ennoblement of the Diary,” symbolizes a rise to noble rank, an upgrade, so to speak. This book is a testament to that statement as far as his writing and understanding of life.

Offering a revolution in Black business financing, this book centers the entrepreneur and responds to the systemic failures surrounding Black wealth building. America has a huge racial wealth gap today. Owning a business is one of the best ways to build wealth-but entrepreneurs need capital. And investing in Black companies is obstructed by systemic racism and implicit biases that continue to create barriers to success. Merging historical information and data with tactical examples and explanations, this practical guide shows us what needs to be done to change the way we support Black companies and how we think about wealth. Norwood calls for investors to move away from extractive, individualistic, and exploitative approaches to capital and entrepreneurship. She asks us to move toward transformational, restorative, regenerative, and interdependent relationships to repair the impacts of systemic racism. Investors, large and small, need to say to Black business owners, We believe in you. With an entrepreneur-centric approach, Believe-in-You Money challenges the systemic failure surrounding Black companies. This book is a guide on how Black entrepreneurs can be supported in sustainable ways and offers a shift in the way we think about who can be an investor while also aiming to change our personal relationships with money.
