In the summer of 1962 rumors of a Marilyn Monroe and Robert Kennedy affair where spreading through Hollywood. Dr Engelberg admitted to prescribing the Nembutal, but always maintained that he had never given Marilyn a prescription for chloral hydrate. After his death, Julien's auctioned a prescription for chloral hydrate, signed by Engelberg, that seemed to prove he was lying. Engelberg joined a long list of villains in the Monroe case. A new documentary was produced stating that Engelberg had indeed been lying and found that Marilyn's death had been due to "medical negligence."
