The New Economic Policy (Nep) Has Been Implemented In India Since 1990 91. For The Past Fourteen Years, There Are Some Macro Economic Policy Measures Like Liberalisation, Privatisation And Globalisation (Lpg) Which Have The Positive And Negative Impact On The Indian Economy. Agriculture And Small Scale Industries Are The Backbone Of The Rural India. In Order To Analyse The Impact Of New Economic Policy On The Indian Economy, A National Level Seminar Was Organized In Our Gandhigram Rural Institute With The Assistance Of Indian Council Of Social Science Research, New Delhi. A Few Selected Papers Are Edited As A Book Entitled New Economic Policy And Rural Development . The Book Has Been Published In Two Volumes. The Volume I Highlighted The Critical Evaluation Of The New Economic Policy, Impact Of The Economic Reforms On Agriculture And Industrial Sectors. The Role Of New Economic Policy In The Promotion Of The Rural Sectors Especially In The Service Sector Are Given In The Volume Ii. The Books Will Be Much Useful To The Academicians, Researchers And Policy Makers For The Effective Implementation Of New Economic Policy In India.

Since 1991, the Indian economy has been exposed to economic liberalization and globalization in line with structural adjustment and stabilisation policies initiated by IMF and World Bank. This analysis outlines the controversial shift in Indian economic policy from State-oriented development strategy to market-oriented development that leaves decisions of production and distribution to be made by the market.

Focusing on the demands of the new innovative, sustainable and inclusive rural development paradigm, the monograph raises the discussion regarding new approaches and success factors that are vital in current rural socio-economic development and policy transformations. This study analyzes the significance of new economic context in Latin America and the Caribbean for the design of policies for the agricultural sector. In addition, it analyzes and assesses recent trends in agricultural development policy in Latin America, to identify and synthesize new policy directions, and to highlight emerging challenges and avenues for policy innovation. The main conclusion of the study is that Latin American agricultural and rural development policy is at a turning point that will require bold new initiatives to improve the production performance of agriculture, reduce rural poverty, protect the natural resource base of the sector and ensure the political sustainability of economic growth. This will require a pro-active set of interventions designed at restoring the specificity of sectoral agricultural policy while maintaining consistency with the macro reforms.--Publisher's description.
