In a vibrant exchange of letters between the author and a University Psychology Major over a three year period, issues of social pressure, the human soul and the metaphysical underpinnings of life are explored and discussed. An interesting and revealing read for anyone whos sincerely in touch with, and sensitive to, the yearnings of their own, individual soul. The author gets his first chance to present his understandings about the intentions of the universe and how it has been structured to reach its goals. In his opinion, all of the end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it scenarios were presently encountering are but the notification from the universe itself of a major paradigm shift in our reality. He presents all of his ideas in a clean and simple manner and formulates a unique understanding about life that wants to remain dogma-free. And it seems to work . . .

Spatial cognition is a broad field of enquiry, emerging from a wide range of disciplines and incorporating a wide variety of paradigms that have been employed with human and animal subjects. This volume is part of a two- volume handbook reviewing the major paradigms used in each of the contributors' research areas.; This volume considers the issues of neurophysiological aspects of spatial cognition, the assessment of cognitive spatial deficits arising from neural damage in humans and animals, and the observation of spatial behaviours in animals in their natural habitats.; This handbook should be of interest to new and old students alike. The student new to spatial research can be brought up-to- speed with a particular range of techniques, made aware of the background and pitfalls of particular approaches, and directed toward useful sources. For seasoned researchers, the handbook provides a rapid scan of the available tools that they might wish to consider as alternatives when wishing to answer a particular "spatial" research problem.

Psychology, philosophy Never the need to understand why everything is capsizing in every domain of our lives has been more urgent. The richest feel it; some dream of colonising other planets. Will they leave the ship just before it sinks? Or, will we finally dare reflect on what we are made of? Scientific discoveries plainly show that the fundamental part of the universe isn't subjected to time or space. Same for a part in us. Our brain makes it clear too; it has evolved to take into account two distinct paradigms: one for matter -of evidence, and one for quanta-like elements - of Reality. We only use the former. The other lies, abandoned in a corner of our mind. However, in order to generate a happy and healthy world both are required. We can allow the truth to dazzle us by owning this paradigm and thus unshackle ourselves. Nicole Anne de Bavelaere gives us here, in simple language, what our brain indicates: Nature carries a model of which we are the expression. The coherent manifestation of its two paradigms is essential to our mental and emotional health. Her training in psychology, system science, and educational science, her interest in quantum physics, brain research, Jungian psychology, and her love for nature come together here, in her fifth book. By revealing what is hidden within us all, this former television director's assistant depicts the coherent viewpoint current emergencies invite us to choose.

Since the late 1800s psychologists have been interested in discerning the strategies subjects employ to solve psychological tests (Piaget, 1928, Werner, 1940, Gesell, 1941). Much of this work, however, has relied on qualitative observations. In the 1970s, Edith Kaplan adopted this approach to the analysis of standardized neuropsychological measures. Unlike her predecessors, Dr. Kaplan and her colleagues emphasized the application of modern behavioral neurology to the analysis of the test data. Her approach was later termed the Boston Process Approach to neuropsychological assessment. While Edith Kaplan's work generates a great deal of enthusiasm, the qualitative nature of her analyses did not allow for its adoption by mainstream neuropsychologists. However, in recent years this limitation has begun to be addressed. Clinicians and researchers have developed new methodologies for quantifying the Boston Process Approach, leading to the emergence of a new field, which is collectively termed the Quantified Process Approach. Quantified Process Approach to Neuropsychological Assessment outlines the rationale for the emergence of this new approach and reviews the state of the art research literature and up to date clinical applications as they pertain to the evaluation of neuropsychiatric, head injured, and learning disabled patients. When available, norms and scoring forms are included in the appendices.

Each chapter in this book is written by, and devoted to the original work of a leading researcher in his or her own field. The book presents an integrative approach to the psychological study of time in an attempt to bring to light similarities between bodies of research which have been developed independently within different theoretical frameworks - from Piaget's structuralist-organismic model, to information processing approaches. The chapters are organized in a life-span perspective, with different chapters focusing on different age-levels. It includes analyses of time perception in infancy, temporal systems in the developing language, time conception, time measurement and time reading in middle childhood and adolescence, as well as various models of time perception in the adult, both normal and abnormal. A rich concept such as time sheds light on a wide variety of major topics in psychology; the book will be of value to cognitive, developmental and educational psychologists, as well as to psycholinguists.
