This edition contains a chapter on Commercial and Business Forms, which has been added to make the Commercial Arithmetic complete. The treatment of Vulgar and Decimal Fractions introduces the pupil to a series of propositions of close mathematical reasoning, with the results of which he is already more or less familiar. The formal treatment of Cube Root has been omitted, as being too cumbersome and intricate for any practical use that can be made of it by the average High School pupil. In the Mensuration a number of experimental methods for finding the surfaces and volumes of the more difficult solids have been introduced, and the number of exercises on Mensuration has been increased. Problems on the Metric System are included with those on Compound Quantities and on Mensuration.
