Excerpt from Outline Studies in the New Testament for Bible Teachers Scriptures finds an abundant reward. There is need in our age of searchers in the Bible, who shall bring out of its treasure-house things new and old. In the Old Bible the most important themes are those which gather around the God-man, Jesus Christ. His coming to earth was the culmination Of all prophecy, the focus of all history, and the center of all doctrine; and the church which he founded has been for nineteen centuries the inspiration Of the world's progress. There are two subjects in the New Testament with which everv follower of Christ should be thoroughly acquainted, and they are its two most prominent themes: the life of Christ on earth, and the growth of the early church. In the life of Christ he should know the order of the leading events; he should grasp its principles, and should enter into its Spirit. Only as we apprehend Christ can we comprehend the truths taught. And inspired by Christ. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Outline Studies in Christian Doctrine has been a primer for many thousands of Bible school students who, as missionaries, ministers and lay Christians, have carried its teaching to every part of our world. George P. Pardington, son of a Methodist minister, had the advantage of a classical education (Drew University), earning his doctorate in 1898 from New York University. Early drawn to A.B. Simpson and his "Friday meetings" in New York City, Pardington devoted most of his professional life to teaching at Simpson's Missionary Training Institue—now Nyack (New York) College. Severely handicapped as the result of a merciless beating at age 10 by his schoolteacher, Pardington did not let physical suffering suppress his victorious spirit or his keen sense of humor. He regaled his students with his wit and motivated them by the warmth of his unwavering devotion to Jesus Christ and the Scriptures. Published posthumously following the author's untimely death in 1915 at age 49, has been in continuous print for nearly three-quarters of a century. The chapters of this book, prepared personally by the author just prior to his death, distill the essense of his classroom teaching.

The New Testament shouldn’t be complicated. So why are we often confused? Every Christian wants to love the Bible. But let’s face it: we sometimes get lost in all the names, places, and doctrines that we find in its pages. Who wrote this epistle? Which book is about justification? Joy? Jesus? Aren’t they all about him? The New Testament contains complex ideas and multiple genres. Keeping it straight can be hard to do. Wouldn’t it be nice if somebody who understands the big picture would put it together for us in one place? Biblical scholar and seminary professor Patrick Schreiner draws from his years of experience as a teacher to offer a simple and memorable way of understanding Scripture. And he doesn’t do it by throwing big words at you. The contours of the New Testament and its underlying structure are depicted in visual format along with Schreiner’s clear explanations. In The Visual Word, the Bible comes alive because you can see it pictured before your eyes. By taking a graphic approach, you’ll notice connections you’ve never seen before. Gain insights you’ve missed all these years. And discover an overall pattern that makes each separate piece fall perfectly into place. Don’t settle for mere summaries of the New Testament. Let Schreiner’s concise words and crisp images work together to help you encounter the Living Word in a fresh way.
