And, if, but one in the vast number of my fellow-men who has heretofore allowed others to do his thinking for him, will only awaken to the fact, and that through the perusal of this volume, that the Creator of the universe endowed all mankind with, as Lord Lytton put it, "Such jewels as the exploring mind brings from the caves of knowledge," namely, brains to use as they should be used by all men for the uplifting and betterment of all mankind, then I have not lived my life in vain.
