The theme is a running vein all through the thirty-two poems, advocating international integration that breaks nationalism and calls it unwanted feeling for humanity. Globalization has not done away with national politics backed by power centers, which in turn is backed by money muscle. Vested interest lobbies use globalization only for economic supremacy of certain power groups, whereas in reality, there is economic cannibalism. This has been highlighted in the poems. Harsh reality is mirrored through poems, a medium soft in form but strong in its attack on social injustice.

Poems of Love and Pain is meant to show that people aren’t alone in this world and that others have the same feelings that they do. This collection of poems and letters were sent to ladies I have loved though the years. It includes my feelings, hopes, dreams, love, and my pain. My heart and soul are trapped between these lines, showing my raw emotions and letting the ink flow to express myself the only way I can. I was born July 19, 1976 in Brooklyn, New York. I have two sisters and loving parents, but I’ve had a hard time dealing with love and the pain it can bring. I’m very romantic and my feelings get hurt easily. I love big and get hurt big. I’m the type who will love a woman endlessly and forever. I began writing at age 16 and never stopped. Moments get captured in my mind like a camera, creating snapshots of my memories to never let them go. I hold a lot in, but write everything down, as it’s the only way I know to express my feelings.

Award-winning Arab Australian poet Omar Sakr presents a pulsating collection of poetry that interrogates the bonds and borders of family, faith, queerness, and nationality. Visceral and energetic, Sakr’s poetry confronts the complicated notion of “belonging” when one’s family, culture, and country are at odds with one’s personal identity. Braiding together sexuality and divinity, conflict and redemption, The Lost Arabs is a fierce, urgent collection from a distinct new voice.

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Rhett Miller teams up with Caldecott Medalist and bestselling artist Dan Santat in a riotous collection of irreverent poems for modern families. In the tradition of Shel Silverstein, these poems bring a fresh new twist to the classic dilemmas of childhood as well as a perceptive eye to the foibles of modern family life. Full of clever wordplay and bright visual gags--and toilet humor to spare--these twenty-three rhyming poems make for an ideal read-aloud experience. Taking on the subjects of a bullying baseball coach and annoying little brothers with equally sly humor, renowned lyricist Rhett Miller's clever verses will have the whole family cackling.
