Pray While You Re Prey

Where do I begin with this review? I think I should take my sisters advice and repeat what she often tells me: If I cant say amen, just say ouch. Keeping that in mind, Im over here saying ouch because author Toni L. Wortherly is on my toe stomping pretty hard with this petite but powerful book. As a single Christian woman combating some of the issues of loneliness and frustration associated with living a single life, this book speaks volumes to me. There is nothing like reading what youre going through to let the reader know they are not alone on this journey. As Ive pledged my life to following the tenants of my faith, its good to have confirmation, in the form of a book, which I can reference from time to time. Ill admit that Im not crazy about the title; I dont like to be referred to as prey or as the hunted. The Word of God says: He that finds a wife, finds a good thing so a loose translation would mean that I am prey. I would hope that my mate wouldnt refer to me in this manner. The translation would also imply that Im weak or defenseless; I feel that Im a strong vessel, who patiently awaits capture. Pray While Youre Prey is a great read for single women. Those of us who have the desire to be spiritually grounded in all that we do, can draw strength from the scripture, interpretation and study questions found at the end of each chapter. This is a book to share with your entire cadre of single sister friends as we journey down the path to closeness with God and the quest to be a virtuous woman and wife.

From the book, "Pray While You're Prey: How God Turned my Loneliness and Frustration into Contentment and Commitment," this weekly devotion provides a year-long uplifting look through Scripture during seasons of singleness, bringing encouragement to you and others while honoring God.When I submitted the Pray While You're Prey Devotions for Singles to the Bible app, they suggested breaking it up into 7 week-long plans. Now, as I publish them as a book, I thought, "Will people commit to these devotions for year?" Here's the answer that dropped in my spirit: "It's a commitment. And isn't that what the people who read these devotions want? We should prepare for commitment by practicing commitment." Pray While You're Prey and the Pray While You're Prey Devotions are not how-to-get-a-mate guides. They are a manifestation of 2 Corinthians 1:3-4: shared experiences to help comfort others who are going through this season in the way God has comforted me.You could read them in 52 days or 52 minutes, if you are so inclined, but for maximum impact, I suggest meditating on each devotion for a week. In my personal Bible studies, I have found that I get more understanding the longer I sit with the lesson, pray about the lesson and listen to what God has to say. Doing this has taken my ability to commit to new levels. In addition to the devotions that were on the YouVersion Bible app, this book has extra devotions, as well as, journaling space to encourage you to truly seek God and record His answers and insights in this season.And remember, if you are in a relationship or start a relationship while reading this book, don't stop reading, praying and meditating because the journey is just beginning. A particular prey belongs to us to talk to God, an ask earnestly for something. Prayer is communication between man and God. As the pray upon us, they are the dead inner-self awake. My sleeping once to find out that predator is on our minds and the pray is our physical being. The period between birth and death is difficult and pain or hardship is inevitable part of life. Turn to God, be accepted and loved for who you are. Every human being need to turn, to God with his/her triumphs and failure an acknowledge life is meaningful, praying play an ultimate supporting system.
