This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 12th International Conference and School of Network Science, NetSci-X 2016, held in Wroclaw, Poland, in January 2016. The 12 full and 6 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 59 submissions. The papers deal with the study of network models in domains ranging from biology and physics to computer science, from financial markets to cultural integration, and from social media to infectious diseases.

This year the conference committee received 313 submissions. All papers were carefully reviewed by program committee members, taking into consideration the breadth and depth of research topics falling within the scope of the conference, and after further discussion, 79 papers were selected for presentation at the conference and for publication in this book. This represents an acceptance rate of about 25%. The book offers an overview of the latest research and developments in these rapidly evolving fields, and will be of interest to all those working with electronics, communication and networks.

The two-volume set LNICST 236-237 constitutes the post-conference proceedings of the 12th EAI International Conference on Communications and Networking, ChinaCom 2017, held in Xi’an, China, in September 2017. The total of 112 contributions presented in these volumes are carefully reviewed and selected from 178 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on wireless communications and networking, satellite and space communications and networking, big data network track, multimedia communications and smart networking, signal processing and communications, network and information security, advances and trends of V2X networks.
