The 2001 Census Area Profiles are designed to provide a statistical overview, or profile, for lower levels of geography. Each publication in this series provides a profile of census divisions (CDs) and census subdivisions (CSDs) in a province or territory. The Area Profile series gives a statistical overview, or profile, of geographic areas. A wide rande of census variables are covered in limited detail. The Profiles Series consists of data base on a 20% sample except for age, sex and marital status which are obtained on a 100% basis. New in 1996 Area Profiles can be accessed much earlier than in 1991. Components of the profile are available as each variable is released. From October 1997 to July 1998, data at the CD CSD level will be available on the day of release of a variable with all other geographic levels for this variable available one month later. The CD-ROM containing all area profiles will be available in 3rd Quarter of 1998 and the publications for CD/CSD and CT levels will be available in the first Quarter of 1999.

This 2006 Census print profile provides a statistical overview of Newfoundland and Labrador, presenting most of the census variables. It should be noted that the electronic version of the profile contains more details about the breakdown of variables than the print format. The profiles are part of the census standard data products, which are data tables extracted from the 2006 Census database. They contain statistical information about all population, household, dwelling and family characteristics.
