Progress In Cryptology Indocrypt 2000

The field of Cryptology witnessed a revolution in the late seventies. Since then it has been expanded into an important and exciting area of research. Over the last two decades, India neither participated actively nor did it contribute sig nificantly towards the development in this field. However, recently a number of active research groups engaged in important research and developmental work have crystalized in different parts of India. As a result, their interaction with the international crypto community has become necessary. With this backdrop, it was proposed that a conference on cryptology - INDOCRYPT, be organized for the first time in India. The Indian Statistical Institute was instrumental in hosting this conference. INDOCRYPT has generated a large amount of enthu siasm amongst the Indians as well as the International crypto communities. An INDOCRYPT steering committee has been formed and the committee has plans to make INDOCRYPT an annual event. For INDOCRYPT 2000, the program committee considered a total of 54 pa pers and out of these 25 were selected for presentation. The conference program also included two invited lectures by Prof. Adi Shamir and Prof. Eli Biham. These proceedings include the revised versions of the 25 papers accepted by the program committee. These papers were selected from all the submissions based on originality, quality and relevance to the field of Cryptology. Revisions were not checked and the authors bear the full responsibility for the contents of the papers in these proceedings.

The INDOCRYPT series of conferences started in 2000. INDOCRYPT 2004 was the ?fth one in this series. The popularity of this series is increasing every year. The number of papers submitted to INDOCRYPT 2004 was 181, out of which 147 papers conformed to the speci?cations in the call for papers and, therefore, were accepted to the review process. Those 147 submissions were spread over 22 countries. Only 30 papers were accepted to this proceedings. We should note that many of the papers that were not accepted were of good quality but only the top 30 papers were accepted. Each submission received at least three independent - views. The selection process also included a Web-based discussion phase. We made e?orts to compare the submissions with other ongoing conferences around the world in order to ensure detection of double-submissions, which were not - lowed by the call for papers. We wish to acknowledge the use of the Web-based review software developed by Bart Preneel, Wim Moreau, and Joris Claessens in conducting the review process electronically. The software greatly facilitated the Program Committee in completing the review process on time. We would like to thank C ́ edric Lauradoux and the team at INRIA for their total support in c- ?guring and managing the Web-based submission and review softwares. We are unable to imagine the outcome of the review process without their participation. This year the invited talks were presented by Prof. Colin Boyd and Prof.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second International Conference in Cryptology in India, INDOCRYPT 2001, held in Chennai, India in December 2001. The 31 revised full papers presented together with an invited survey were carefully reviewed and selected from 77 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on hashing, algebraic schemes, elliptic curves, coding theory, applications, cryptanalysis, distributed cryptography, Boolean functions, digitial signatures, and shift registers.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Third International Conference on Cryptology in India, INDOCRYPT 2002, held in Hyderabad, India in December 2002. The 31 revised full papers presented together with 2 invited papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 75 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on symmetric cyphers, new public-key schemes, foundations, public-key infrastructures, fingerprinting and watermarking, public-key protocols, Boolean functions, efficient and secure implementations, applications, anonymity, and secret sharing and oblivious transfer.

The 22 revised full papers presented together with the abstracts of 3 invited talks and 3 tutorials were carefully reviewed and selected from 127 submissions.
