This book is the culmination of the efforts to understand the moral development & cognitive development approach to moral education & apply the research of Lawrence Kolberg to school settings.

When psychologists Shumaker and Heckel wrote their earlier book on Children Who Murder, it became clear to them that society—specifically a significant portion of its young members—is in crisis.
