Quantifying Aesthetics Of Visual Design Applied To Automatic Design

In this thesis, the author makes several contributions to the study of design of graphical materials. The thesis begins with a review of the relationship between design and aesthetics, and the use of mathematical models to capture this relationship. Then, a novel method for linking linguistic concepts to colors using the Latent Dirichlet Allocation Dual Topic Model is proposed. Next, the thesis studies the relationship between aesthetics and spatial layout by formalizing the notion of visual balance. Applying principles of salience and Gaussian mixture models over a body of about 120,000 aesthetically rated professional photographs, the author provides confirmation of Arnhem's theory about spatial layout. The thesis concludes with a description of tools to support automatically generating personalized design.

Vorbei: das Beharren auf Indexikalität und die instrumentelle Reduktion des Wissens. Stattdessen: eine neue Metrik, die Spiel, Neugier, Experiment und Risiko fordert. Als dringende Antwort auf die stetig wachsende Informationsflut, der Bibliotheken, Suchmaschinen und kulturelle Einrichtungen ausgesetzt sind, werden Ansätze entwickelt, die sinnliche Logik, kausale Durchlässigkeit und neue Formen der Mensch-Maschine-Interaktion anregen und erlauben. Data Loam beleuchtet die Zukunft von Wissenssystemen in Texten zu künstlicher Intelligenz, Kybernetik und Kryptoökonomie: als Gegenmittel zur Zerstreuung apokalyptischer Ängste.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 10th European Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Music, Sound, Art and Design, EvoMUSART 2022, held as part of Evo* 2022, in April 2022, co-located with the Evo* 2022 events, EvoCOP, EvoApplications, and EuroGP. The 20 full papers and 6 short papers presented in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 66 submissions. They cover a wide range of topics and application areas, including generative approaches to music and visual art, deep learning, and architecture.

This latest edition, volume 37, from the Association for Education, Communication, and Technology (AECT) notes the most current trends in the field of learning design and technology, taking into account the implications for both formal and informal learning. The majority of articles train their focus on graduate and professional goals, including an analysis of doctoral programs in educational technology and new collaborative learning platforms. Library science is a featured component of this analysis and Library Science programs are featured prominently in this analysis. Mediagraphy and profiles of leaders in the field are also included.

The 2023 2nd International Conference on Art Design and Digital Technology (ADDT 2023) was successfully held on September 15-17, 2023 in Xi'an, China. ADDT 2023 created a forum for idea sharing and research exchange, opened up new perspectives in related fields and broadened the horizons of all participants. In the conference, 100 individuals around the world took part in the conference. Divided into three parts, the conference agenda covered keynote speeches, oral presentations and online Q&A discussion. Firstly, the keynote speakers were each allocated 30-45 minutes to address their speeches. Then in the oral presentations, the excellent papers we had selected were presented by their authors one by one. We are glad to share with you that we’ve selected a bunch of high-quality papers from the submissions and compiled them into the proceedings after rigorously reviewing them. These papers feature but are not limited to the following topics: Computer Art, Visual Design, Digital Media, Innovative Technology, etc. All the papers have been checked through rigorous review and processes to meet the requirements of publication. We would like to acknowledge all of those who supported ADDT 2023 and made it a great success. In particular, we would like to thank the European Alliance for Innovation (EAI), for the hard work of all its colleagues in publishing this paper volume. We sincerely hope that the ADDT 2023 turned out to be a forum for excellent discussions that enable new ideas to come about, promoting collaborative research.

This book addresses a perennial challenge for product planners and designers alike: how to objectively specify and quantify the aesthetics of products. It provides automotive product planners with a framework for the grammar of aesthetics and a tool for quantifying the aesthetics of an intended product. Further, it equips styling designers with a tool for connecting engineering and aesthetics. Given the author’s extensive experience in motorcycle design, the motorcycle has been chosen as the frame of reference for automobiles. Specifically in the field of automobile design, where engineering and aesthetics go hand in hand, it also becomes important to clearly and objectively define the relationship between engineering design and aesthetics. Accordingly, this book (1) clearly establishes the objective parameters of aesthetics, (2) puts forward a method for quantifying aesthetics, (3) identifies the engineering design parameters affecting aesthetics, and (4) determines the relationship between parameters of aesthetics and engineering design. As such, it offers a useful guide not only for design professionals, but also for students and researchers of design.
