R Sum With Monsters

This volume aims to present the basic results in the theory of two-person zero-sum repeated games including stochastic games and repeated games with incomplete information. It is intended for graduate students with no previous knowledge of the field.

The authors prove a general form of the sum formula $\mathrm{SL}_2$ over a totally real number field. This formula relates sums of Kloosterman sums to products of Fourier coefficients of automorphic representations. The authors give two versions: the spectral sum formula (in short: sum formula) and the Kloosterman sum formula. They have the independent test function in the spectral term, in the sum of Kloosterman sums, respectively.

This work initiates a systematic analysis of the representation of real forms of even degree as sums of powers of linear forms and the resulting implications in real algebraic geometry, number theory, combinatorics, functional analysis, and numerical analysis. The proofs utilize elementary techniques from linear algebra, convexity, number theory, and real algebraic geometry and many explicit examples and relevant historical remarks are presented.

The correlation of multiplicative arithmetic functions on distinct arithmetic progressions and with values in the complex unit disc, cannot be continually near to its possible maximum unless each function is either very close to or very far from a generalized character. Moreover, under accessible condition the second possibility can be ruled out. As a consequence analogs of the standard limit theorems in probabilistic number theory are obtained with the classical single additive function on the integers replaced by a sum of two additive functions on distinct arithmetic progressions.

The method of the QCD sum rules was and still is one of the most productive tools in a wide range of problems associated with the hadronic phenomenology. Many heuristic ideas, computational devices, specific formulae which are useful to theorists working not only in hadronic physics, have been accumulated in this method. Some of the results and approaches which have originally been developed in connection with the QCD sum rules can be and are successfully applied in related fields, such as supersymmetric gauge theories, nontraditional schemes of quarks and leptons etc. The amount of literature on these and other more basic problems in hadronic physics has grown enormously in recent years. This volume presents a collection of papers which provide an overview of all basic elements of the sum rule approach and priority has been given to those works which seemed most useful from a pedagogical point of view.
