Ready to Come About is the story of an improbable year sailing the North Atlantic, through which author Sue Williams grew to believe that there is no gift more precious than the liberty to chart one’s own course and that risk is a good thing ... sometimes, at least.

Three hundred nautical miles from shore, I‘m cold and sick and afraid. I pray for reprieve. I long for solid ground. And I can‘t help but ask myself, What the hell was I thinking? When Sue Williams set sail for the North Atlantic, it wasn’t a mid-life crisis. She had no affinity for the sea. And she didn’t have an adventure-seeking bone in her body. In the wake of a perfect storm of personal events, it suddenly became clear: her sons were adults now; they needed freedom to figure things out for themselves; she had to get out of their way. And it was now or never for her husband, David, to realize his dream to cross an ocean. So she’d go too. This book is a written version of my first sermon. It is not a story or an autobiography, so please do not read it as such. It is simply the preached word written in a simple manner for easy reading. As you read it, think of actually being in church and hearing me preach. No, I did not preach this whole book, but I did preach on every subject matter that you will read later on in Galatians chapter 5. When I was a little girl, we played a game called hide-and-seek. Several people could hide in this game at one time, but only one person could seek. The person that was chosen to seek was called IT. Everyone else would hide. As everyone was running to find a hiding place, IT was counting to ten. "One, two, three, four, five." And to make the game a little more fun, or to make you worry a little bit, IT would say, "Five, five and a half, six, seven, eight, nine, ten." You had about ten seconds to find a place to hide. After IT reached the number 10, he or she would cry with a loud voice, " "READY OR NOT, HERE I COME!" Believe me, Jesus will return one day whether you're ready or not. I trust you will be blessed by this word.
