Retrograde Planets

Traditional chart interpretation regarded a retrograde natal planet as being weakened, but many of today's astrologers have different opinions: the planet's energy is more internalized or strengthened, or causes delay or confusion. To illustrate, retrograde Mercury causes mail to be lost, appointments to be missed and a general breakdown in communication. Generally most of the people are born with one or more than one retrograde planets in their birth charts. Retrograde planets behave differently than direct planets. Retrograde and needs additional understanding. Since retrograde planets do not give benefits as do direct planets. Retrograde symbolizes that the specific areas within consciousness indicated by the sign and house they occupy, along with the house they rule. As everything in this universe happens for a reason, there must be some reason why Sun and Moon move in forward direction only, Rahu and Ketu move in backward direction only, whereas Jupiter, Venus, Mars, Mercury and Saturn move in forward as well as in backward direction. A retrograde planet may not change its functional nature in a horoscope, in most cases. Hence if a benefic planet goes retrograde in a horoscope, it may still give benefic results. Likewise, if a malefic planet goes retrograde in a horoscope, it may still give malefic results. When a planet goes retrograde, it may undergo some changes in its style of working, rather than in its nature of working. Due to such changes in its style of operation, retrograde Saturn may produce results, which may be different than those given by forward moving Saturn. This book deals with the placements of retrograde Saturn in the 7th, 8th and 9th houses of horoscope.
