The book is written from the premise that Satan, the murderer from the beginning (John 8:44), is out in full force to destroy life as created by God. To counter this attack, God initiated a Revolt against Death in the sending of His Son Jesus assumed patronage for this revolt in John 11:25-26: I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. In order for humans to live eternally, God made man into a New Creature (2 Cor 5:17), but this time round the blueprint for this image is His Son, Christ Jesus! Adams deep sleep, wherein Eve was formed out of his opened side, is a symbol of Christs death and the parallel for the creation of the Spiritual Spouse the Church and its offspring. As with Adam, Jesus side was opened during His sleep (cf John 19:33-34) after which His body and blood became the substance of the New Creature.

On August 2, 1943, a small group of Jewish prisoners at the Treblinka death-camp in Poland revolted against their Nazi and Ukrainian guards. The prisoners burned the camp down, facilitating the escape of 200-300 prisoners, of whom only 40-60 survived the war. Although not a single leader of the revolt survived, 27 survivors submitted eyewitness testimonies. Twice-Dead tells the story of Moshe Y. Lubling, the true leader of the Treblinka Revolt, a leader of the Labor Zionists, and the chairman of the legendary Workers' Council in the Czestochowa Ghetto. Twice-Dead corrects the accepted account of the revolt, ensuring that Moshe Y. Lubling's heroic life and death will not be forgotten.

This book examines the impact and implications of the relationship between risk and criminal justice in advanced liberal democracies, in the context of the ‘revolt against uncertainty’ which has underpinned the rise of populist politics across these societies in recent years. It asks what impact the demands for more certainty and security, and the insistence that national identity be reasserted, will have on criminal law and penal policy. Drawing upon contributions made at a symposium held at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand in November 2018, this edited collection also discusses the way in which risk has come to inform sentencing practices, broader criminal justice processes and the critical issues associated with this. It also examines the growth and making of new ‘risky populations’ and the harnessing of risk-prevention logics, techniques and mechanisms which have inflated the influence of risk on criminal justice.

The present book is the outcome of the completion of 150 years of the occurrence of the Revolt of 1857 which had given a big jolt to the British foundation. British had exploited India and Indians at its maximum in a varied way which had sour the seed of intense discontent among the people of India and soldiers which proved great fatal for the British. The revolt at Meerut took place on May 10, 1857. Though at Lucknow the Revolt commenced in May 1857, still there was discontentment among the Indian troops stationed there which was explicit from some of the sporadic incidents which took place earlier. In April, there was trouble between the Indian soldiers of the 48th Native Infantry Regiment when Dr. Wells, the Surgeon of the Infantry, applied to his mouth a bottle of carminative mixture taken from the regimental hospital. When this news approached the Indian soldiers, they thought that this action of the surgeon was against their religious faith. They started to discard the medicines of their regimental hospital. When this news approached Colonel Palmer, he assembled the Indian officers and soldiers and destroyed that bottle of medicine. He also rebuked Dr. Wells. Despite this, one night, the house of Dr. Wells was set on fire. Though Dr. Wells escaped, still it was the general feeling that the incendiaries belong to the 48th N.I. This incident exhibits that there was a definite sense of hostility in the minds of the Indian soldiers because of caste and religion. The Revolt of 1857 in which innumerable numbers of revolutionaries Bahadur Shah Zafar, Zeenat Mahal, Mirza Sultan, Nana Saheb, Begum Hazrat Mahal, Ganga Singh, Tantya Tope, Kunwar Singh, Bakht Khan, Yusuf Khan, Ranjit Singh, Lakshmi Bai etc. had sacrificed their lives. The book has been brought in view of understanding the real nature of the Revolt of 1857. It is of great significance for the researchers, students and teachers as well.
