Richard Sears (ca. 1590-1676) was living in Plymouth Colony in 1633 when he was on a tax list. He soon after moved to Marblehead, Massachusetts, colony, where he was taxed as a resident there. He and his family moved to Yarmouth in 1639. He died at Yarmouth in 1676. Descendants lived in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Vermont, Rhode Island, North Carolina, Illinois, and throughout the United States.
