In semigroup theory there are certain kinds of band decompositions, which are very useful in the study of the structure semigroups. There are a number of special semigroup classes in which these decompositions can be used very successfully. The book focuses attention on such classes of semigroups. Some of them are partially discussed in earlier books, but in the last thirty years new semigroup classes have appeared and a fairly large body of material has been published on them. The book provides a systematic review on this subject. The first chapter is an introduction. The remaining chapters are devoted to special semigroup classes. These are Putcha semigroups, commutative semigroups, weakly commutative semigroups, R-Commutative semigroups, conditionally commutative semigroups, RC-commutative semigroups, quasi commutative semigroups, medial semigroups, right commutative semigroups, externally commutative semigroups, E-m semigroups, WE-m semigroups, weakly exponential semigroups, (m,n)-commutative semigroups and n(2)-permutable semigroups. Audience: Students and researchers working in algebra and computer science.

The leitmotiv of this monograph is the unity of the modest part of mathematics encompassed by the algebraic and geometric structures mentioned in its title. Some of the relationships discussed here are very old, indeed "classical", some of them are quite recent, and still lack "status", but the categorical setting in which they are presented is considered here for the first time.

In most physical, chemical, biological and economic phenomena it is quite natural to assume that the system not only depends on the present state but also on past occurrences. These circumstances are mathematically described by partial differential equations with delay. This book presents, in a systematic fashion, how delay equations can be studied

Gathers and unifies the results of the theory of noncommutative semigroup rings, primarily drawing on the literature of the last 10 years, and including several new results. Okninski (Warsaw U., Poland) restricts coverage to the ring theoretical properties for which a systematic treatment is current

Adopting a new universal algebraic approach, this book explores and consolidates the link between Tarski's classical theory of equidecomposability types monoids, abstract measure theory (in the spirit of Hans Dobbertin's work on monoid-valued measures on Boolean algebras) and the nonstable K-theory of rings. This is done via the study of a monoid invariant, defined on Boolean inverse semigroups, called the type monoid. The new techniques contrast with the currently available topological approaches. Many positive results, but also many counterexamples, are provided.

This book is a collection of selected papers presented at the International Conference on Semigroups and Applications, held at the Cochin University of Science and Technology, India, from December 9–12, 2019. This book discusses the recent developments in semigroups theory, category theory and the applications of these in various areas of research, including structure theory of semigroups, lattices, rings and partial algebras. This book presents chapters on ordering orders and quotient rings, block groups and Hall’s relations, quotients of the Booleanization of inverse semigroup, Markov chains through semigroup graph expansions, polycyclic inverse monoids and Thompson group, balanced category and bundle category. This book will be of much value to researchers working in areas of semigroup and operator theory.
