Create your character and roll the dice—it’s all just a game . . . or is it? Why can’t Tansy’s boyfriend, Travis, be into something normal—like football? Instead, he likes complicated games with magical characters and fantastic setups. In fact, Travis just discovered a new one called Spirits and Spells, which he’s sure will be a huge hit. To try it out, Tansy, Travis, and four of their friends gather one night in an abandoned mansion—the perfect setting for their spooky quest. All six accept their characters’ roles and special abilities and set off to find four objects of power that Travis has hidden nearby. But as they move deeper into the house, the players encounter obstacles that definitely weren’t supposed to be there, and the dangers start to seem all too real. Before morning, each of them will be forced to call on their new powers as they struggle to keep their magical identities from taking over and getting what they really want: a way back into this world. This ebook features an illustrated personal history of Bruce Coville including rare images from the author’s collection.

In Spirits, Spells, and Snark--the middle-grade sequel to Kelly McCullough's Magic, Madness, and Mischief--a 13-year-old boy and his snarky fire hare familiar must use his new magical powers to rescue his long-lost father in a magical version of St. Paul. Kalvan Monroe is worried. Every story he’s ever read told him things should be better now. He mastered his magic, defeated his evil stepfather, and freed the land. Everything should be good now. But in breaking the Winter King's power, he also broke the spell that helped his mother keep her grip on reality. Basically . . . things at home aren’t great. And it turns out that the magical powers that be aren’t done with him yet. So, he’s also dealing with that. And the constant attempts on his life. And, oh yeah, there’s school, too. Not to mention that the Earth itself is talking to him . . . Is it too late for him to just give up and hide under the bed? Praise for Magic, Madness, and Mischief: "The author excels at introducing magic into the everyday modern world." —School Library Journal "McCullough smoothly blends family drama, school story, and magical coming of age in this entertaining fantasy. ... Fans of Percy Jackson will be eager to hop into Kalvan’s world."—The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books (BCCB)

Niall MacGregor, a Scottish werewolf, used magic to steal Charlotte Carver’s memories to protect her. But as she begins to remember little things and their sizzling passion heats up, will temptation bring her closer to the truth? (Bookbub) Magic, Mischief & Kilts! A modern-day Scottish paranormal romance by NYT Bestselling Author Michelle M. Pillow. Charlotte Carver is going insane—suffering everything from memory loss to hallucinations, to phantom conversations she can’t recall having. Something tells her it’s not a coincidence that it all started when the MacGregor family moved to town, and the one person who knows what’s going on is the last person Charlotte would ask for help. Her new landlord, Niall MacGregor, is not the most approachable man but that hasn’t stopped the brooding Scottish biker from invading her dreams. When Charlotte’s memories start to return, she's not sure she can trust what they are telling her. If magic does exist, then is her attraction to Niall just an illusion? Motorcycle riding werewolf, Niall MacGregor is the longtime supernatural enforcer for his warlock family. He has regretted more than a few things that he’s done in the name of duty, but taking Charlotte’s memories ranks as one of the worst. It was necessary, to both protect his magical family and save Charlotte’s sanity. But the intimate glimpse into her mind has only made him want things he can never have—including the love of the gorgeous, brave woman herself. Something from Niall’s past has come back to threaten everything he holds dear. From the Highlands of Scotland to the valleys of Wisconsin... Book Five of the Warlocks MacGregor® series by NY Times and USA TODAY Bestselling Author, Michelle M. Pillow. 5 Stars! - Bianca, D'Arc, USA Today bestselling author of paranormal romance (Bookbub) ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ About the Warlocks MacGregor® Series People know magic is fake--card tricks and illusions, magicians and entertainers. But there is an older magick, a powerful force hidden from modern eyes, buried in folklore and myths, remembered by the few who practice the old ways and respect the lessons of past generations. The term "warlock" is a variation on the Old English word waerloga, primarily used by the Scots. It meant traitor, monster or deceiver. This fiction-based family includes males and females of magick. The MacGregors do not agree with how history has labeled them, or other supernaturals. To them, warlock means magick, family, and immortality. This series is not a portrayal of modern-day witchcraft or those who hold such beliefs. The MacGregors are a magickal class all their own. Warning: Contains yummy, hot, mischievous MacGregors who are almost certainly up to no good on their quest to find true love. And Uncle Raibeart. Praise For Spirits and Spells 5 Stars! The final installment in the hilarious, action-packed Babysitters Coven series that Refinery29 calls "candy for 90's girls and Gen Z'ers alike," featuring a coven of witchy babysitters sworn to protect the innocent and defend the world from an onslaught of evil--all before bedtime. Ever since Esme met Cassandra Heaven and discovered the truth about their shared legacy--that they're Sitters, supernaturally gifted teens tasked with protecting the innocent from evil--her life has been moving at 90 mph. During the day, she chases wild toddlers, and at night, she employs a different skill set for a different kind of demon. Like, literal ones. And sometimes it's almost fun. Her spells are getting better, her telekinesis is on point, and now that Esme's dad and her best friend Janis know the truth, she's no longer lying to the people she loves. She's also learned that there's a way to undo her mother's curse, and with the Synod out of the picture, she might even have a chance to do it. If she could just figure out how. But she can't, and even with her mom living at home again, Esme can't shake the feeling that she's failing. Throw in the fact that Pig is still gone, Esme's crush is MIA, and it's cold, slushy February, and she's in bummer city. Esme needs a serious pick-me-up, and Janis has a plan: a Galentine's stay-cation, with the Sitter friends Esme and Cassandra made at the Summit. Except things are getting weird in Spring River again. Esme and Cassandra just discovered a new band, and not in a good way: these guys reek of Red Magic, and their music sucks. Trouble is brewing, and if Esme's not careful, this show might be her last--and no one likes a one-hit wonder.

Cultures, for as long as we have had history, have had some sense of magic. This book contends that some of it, at least, is real; it describes what that is, and why the Bible is so negative about it. However, to say 'magic is real' in our contemporary culture could be very misleading. In fact, wrong. For what our culture thinks of as 'magic' - as vague and diffuse as that is - is likely to be very different from what was practised in the Ancient Near East (the things that modern English translations of the Old Testament call, for instance, sorcery or witchcraft) or in the Greco-Roman world (what the New Testament calls magic). It also may be very different from what is called 'magic' or 'witchcraft' in animistic or ancestor-worshipping cultures today. This book unpacks the background and explores the implications of the biblical teaching about the supernatural. There is a supernatural world, and it contains more than just God in Trinity; but Christians should not be afraid of it. Kirsty Birkett is Latimer Research Fellow at Oak Hill College, where she is responsible for Learning Architecture and Educational Development, and teaches Ethics, Philosophy and Church History. Her many publications cover the whole area of relationships between science and religion. She has also written on psychology, feminism and the family for both a popular and academic audience.
