As an Apostle he performed miracles, wrote the Gospel of John, three epistle letters, and the Apocalypse (also known as the Revelation of John or the Book of Revelations.) St. Thomas the Apostle, also known as Didymus, was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ. He was a dedicated follower, but sometimes said things impulsively. Because of his unwillingness to believe the testimony of the other disciples who had seen the risen Christ, he gave rise to the expression "Doubting Thomas." After the ascension of Christ, he went on to spread the Gospel to the Parthians, Medes, and Persians, eventually reaching India where he eventually died. Saint Thomas is the patron saint of builders, architects, India, Sri Lanka, and Pula, Croatia. This prayer journal includes beautiful artwork and a treasury of information to help increase your devotion: two short biographies of St. Thomas; reflections from St. John Chrysostom and the Great Biblical Commentary of Cornelius À Lapide, a novena, prayers, and excerpts from scripture. It also has 75 lined pages for you to record your own prayer intentions.

Songs of Summer Grace is a prayer devotional addressing issues encountered in a thirty-three year career as a high school teacher in public education. Education is in crisis and this book speaks to the difference it could make to invite God into public schools. It speaks to living out and giving witness to one's spirituality in the workplace. This teaching philosophy has had a positive effect on students. This psalm-journal has three sections. The first, Songs of Teaching, glances back from the peace of summer to a school year replete with struggles as well as triumphs. The second group of prayers, Songs of a Teacher, speaks about the challenges in life and where and how to find God who offers strength for the journey. And finally the third group of songs, Songs of God's Children, is a compilation of notes written by students to their teacher who was transferring to another school. Songs of Summer Grace is different from other books that deal with student-teacher relationships in that spirituality is linked to the work of educating children in public schools. The classroom scenarios described have been personally experienced, internalized and processed through prayer. By living gospel values and truths, even though they are not allowed to actually be taught or preached, public school teachers have an opportunity to make a difference. Teaching with a prayerful heart draws students into life-giving relationships with teachers and has a profound and lasting effect on them.

Christians of all denominations are looking today to the ancient discipline of a rule of life to strengthen their sense of living in Christ and participating in a wider community. For the first time the brothers of the Society of Saint John the Evangelist are making their rule—completely rewritten and revised—available to the church at large. The book is composed of 49 short chapters that develop classical monastic themes of hospitality, poverty, celibacy, and obedience, exploring what these might mean to men and women living at the end of the millennium. And because this is a modern rule, it provides guidance and reflection in less traditional areas, too—leadership, conflict, the use and abuse of authority, work, the need for rest and silence, vocation, and fellowship with the poor. Therefore it has much to teach Christians in other kinds of communities, including the family, the parish, and the workplace. Concluding chapters give suggestions for meditating on the Rule and for its use as an aid to discernment and spiritual growth for prayer groups and parish life committees.
