This is a true story of a woman growing up in a life of privilege. With good family background and all the right things, nevertheless she found herself chronically incarcerated and homeless, due to drug and alcohol addiction. World travel, modeling jobs, and surf, sun, and suds ended up in over 94 separate incarcerations in 18 different county jails. Her compelling experience is one that many will see in themselves or a loved one. The author tells how she could not move forward without God's mercy and love, and tells how her life was saved and changed by the grace of Jesus Christ. There was no escape until she became willing to confess that Jesus is the only way. She shows how the power of God's Word can bring miraculous life changes for anyone who is willing.

Stuck on Stupid or Stuck in Stupid: (The 25 mistakes women make that prevent them from attracting and keeping true love) Is the partner book to: Think Like a Manand heres a thought: Start Acting Like a Man (The 25 mistakes men make that prevent them from finding and keeping true love) I have been pondering whether or not to write a relationship book for women for quite some time. After the release of my first novelTorn Between 2 Brothas and my first relationship book Think Like A Man, I received numerous e-mails and phone calls from women asking that I write a relationship book for them. Initially, I was taken aback because I never saw myself as a relationship guru. The irony is that Ive always been the girlfriend that everyone comes to when it comes to relationships. I dont think that it is because I have had the best relationships when it comes to men. Believe me; I have had a few that I care not to remember. I must admit, I kissed a few frogs before I found my Prince Charming. However, I do think that it is because I have always been optimistic and objective when it comes to love. Even when I have been in the midst of a tumultuous relationship, I have always been able to find my center, recognize my stupidity, and if not in that momentvery soon afterwards, get out of my circumstance. Afterwards, I brush myself off, evaluate the lesson learned and move on (something many women have trouble doing). Also, I try not to punish the next man that enters my life for the mistakes the previous guy made (huge mistake). For the last ten plus years, I have been paying close attention to the behavior of women and trying desperately to get a grip on why we continue to behave so stupidly when it comes to men. Is it that we just dont know? Or is it that we do know, but we choose to stay stuck in/on stupid? Youll have to answer these questions for yourself. Also, I interviewed men and asked them what things really bother them about women when it comes to relationships. Stuck on Stupid includes some of the most voiced concerns. After reading this book, ask your mate to read it and highlight the areas he feels you need improvement. I think youll be surprised. Dont worry, your mate wont highlight the whole book ?. Whenever youre in a relationship you have to be willing to grow and make changes. Its part of the process. Love requires it. Nevertheless, I hope that by the end of this book you will have gained some insight about your behavior and begin to make the necessary adjustments in your life to allow you to experience REAL love. Blessings, Linda

We were all made in the image of God and are spiritual beings living the human experience. There are only two choices for every soul and just like Adam men continually make wrong choices. Even though the "tree of Life" is constantly and readily available we continually choose the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil." Rather than submit to a life committed to and guided by God's Holy Spirit we elect to survive on this planet making the same mistakes over and over again, living the lie instead of the life. Instead of electing to obey God and submit to His plan and purpose we choose to establish our own morality and the result is that we remain...stuck on stupid.

A collaborative book by two extraordinary Black artists about finding beauty in the chaos. Roger Mooking is well-known as a celebrity chef and the host of such television shows as the Cooking Channel’s Man Fire Food and Everyday Exotic; he is also a recording artist with five albums to his credit and a visual artist who creates immersive experiences that merge the visual, sonic, and culinary arts. francesca ekwuyasi is a writer and filmmaker who won wide acclaim for her award-winning, bestselling debut novel, Butter Honey Pig Bread. These two enormously talented Black artists join forces in Curious Minds, a book of art, stories, and conversations that illuminates the journey to find solace and perspective in an increasingly hyperactive and distracting world. Inspired by the fact that the average human attention span lasts 8.25 seconds, Curious Sounds is a collection of small bursts of light, color, and words that explore how time shapes and defines the world, especially from a Black perspective. Comprising three parts, which mirror the arc of a life—the Learning, the Living, and the Leaving—the book is a series of fleeting moments and visuals that help us to discover the beauty in our own chaos. Second Line Rescue: Improvised Responses to Katrina and Rita chronicles the brave and creative acts through which Gulf Coast people rescued their neighbors during the chaotic aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Ordinary citizens joined in with whatever resources they had. Unlike many of the official responders, vernacular rescuers found ways around paralysis produced by a breakdown in communications and infrastructure. They were able to dispel unfounded fears produced by erroneous or questionable reporting. The essays, personal narratives, media reports, and field studies presented here all have to do with effective and often ingenious answers that emerged from the people themselves. Their solutions are remarkably different from the hamstrung government response, and their perspectives are a tonic to sensationalized media coverage. The first part of the collection deals with Gulf Coast rescuers from outside stricken communities: those who, safe in their own homes and neighborhoods, marshaled their resources to help their fellow citizens. It includes some analysis and scholarly approaches, but it also includes direct responses and firsthand field reports. The second part features the words of hurricane survivors displaced from New Orleans and other Gulf Coast communities to Houston, Texas. In many cases, the “victims” themselves were the first responders, rescuing family, friends, and strangers. All of the stories, whether from the “outside” or “inside” responders, reveal a shared history of close-knit community bonds and survival skills sharpened by hard times. This book is about what went right in the aftermath of Katrina and Rita—in spite of all that went so wrong.

In The Perfect Revolution, author Stuart W. Lambert examines, from an ethical perspective, what has been previously understood as human development and addresses the corruption of the moral good in that realm. Building on Lambert's master's thesis, this study demonstrates how the prevailing immoral human development policies and practices-under the sway of globally entrenched Friedmanite/Reaganite Revolutionary Capitalist philosophy-exponentially multiplies structural inequality and represents a choice for death. Lambert outlines the next generation UNDP-MDG program predicated on needs-based rights and points the way forward to the flowering of human development flowing from adopting an ethically centered approach, together with a broader social justice methodology. The Perfect Revolution communicates that the worlds of theology, philosophy, and academia must always be in the service of practical, moral living.
