Seminar paper from the year 2009 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Linguistics, grade: 2,0, Saarland University, language: English, abstract: In this paper, I analyze the language of the TV series Supernatural. Initially, I will provide some basic information about the show, as the corpus consists of transcribed conversations and quotations. I will investigate scripted talk from Supernatural by taking a look at the specialized terminology concerning Sam and Dean Winchester's job on the one hand and the form and function of their speech on the other hand. Since there is not a lot of literature in terms of language in TV series, I basically refer to the Online Supernatural Dictionary and to chosen scenes of the show in order to identify the characteristics of the language.
