This new volume provides detailed insight into supply chain management (SCM) and supply chain performance measurement (SCPM) in the textile industry. The book provides a comprehensive set of performance sub-criteria for the evaluation of SCPM, offering the information needed to understand, implement, and evaluate the supply chain performance of the textile industry and its cyclic processes. Using the Delphi method (a process used to arrive at a group opinion or decision by surveying a panel of experts), the authors studied several companies of diverse sizes and applied an analytical hierarchy process to establish crucial performance measurement criteria and sub-criteria. Around 80 textile industry personnel were contacted, including general managers, factory managers, managers, assistant managers, executives, and supervisors involved in various functions related to textile supply chains to discuss procurement, production, and distribution alternatives. The authors employed the multi-criteria decision-making technique, i.e. analytical hierarchy process, for executing pair-wise comparison and establishing priority weights of criteria, sub-criteria, and for estimating the contribution of supply chain cyclic processes to overall supply chain performance.

"This new volume provides detailed insight into supply chain management (SCM) and supply chain performance measurement (SCPM) in the textile industry. Supply Chain Performance Measurement in Textile Enterprises offers the information needed to understand, implement, and evaluate the supply chain performance of the textile industry and its cyclic processes. The volume will also facilitate the textile industry by offering a comprehensive set of performance sub-criteria for the evaluation of supply chain performance measurement and elaborating on the practices of supply chain performance in identified textile industries. Using the Delphi method (a process used to arrive at a group opinion or decision by surveying a panel of experts), the authors studied several companies of diverse sizes and applied an analytical hierarchy process to establish crucial performance measurement criteria and sub-criteria. Around 80 textile industry personnel were contacted, including general managers, factory managers, managers, assistant managers, executives, and supervisors involved in various function related to textile supply chains to discuss selected procurement, production, and distribution alternatives. The authors employed the multi-criteria decision-making technique, i.e. analytical hierarchy process, for executing pair-wise comparison and establishing priority weights of criteria, sub-criteria, and for estimating the contribution of supply chain cyclic processes to overall supply chain performance. The book will be important to the textile industry as it provides a comprehensive set of performance criteria (BSC perspectives) and measures (sub-criteria) and evaluates the contribution of each of the supply chain cyclic processes towards overall supply chain performance, thereby enabling managers of independent units or partners of the supply chain to improve the performance of supply chain as a whole"--

Supply chain management is emerging as one of the most powerful logistics management concepts for improving performance across the entire logistics network. Companies that have already streamlined their internal business process are now working to realise further savings by improving the external business relationships within the more and more complex, linked value-adding business processes in logistics networks. Although the benefits of SCM are well-known in industry, until now companies have only put this concept into practice in a limited way. Therefore, the newly developed integral model of collaborative performance measurement in this book will make a contribution towards easing and supporting improvements in supply chain management as well as giving specific guidelines for its implementation. Furthermore, the author provides newly developed key performance indicators that enable the measurement of the performance of co-operation across the extended enterprise in a supply chain environment. Based on case studies, the integral model, in close connection to the SCOR model, was applied and has proven its applicability in industrial practice. This book presents a rich variety of concepts and methods for industrial engineers, business managers, engineers and consultants as well as success stories in supply chain management.

Analysis of Manufacturing Enterprises presents a unified and systematic treatment of manufacturing enterprises. These enterprises are networks of companies working in partnership. Such networks are a common occurrence in auto, grocery, apparel, computer and other industries; and competition is among enterprises rather than between individual companies. Thus, for these enterprises (global or local) to succeed, there is a need for systematically designing the enterprise-wide value delivery processes such as the order-to-delivery process, supply chain process, and new product development process. This calls for developing systematic analysis methodologies for evaluating the performance of value delivering processes. Analysis of Manufacturing Enterprises fills this vital need. The first part of the book focuses on foundations of manufacturing enterprises: the generic value delivery process, their performance measures and redesign to meet specifications on lead time and defect levels. The second part provides a clear and comprehensive discussion on new product development, order to delivery, and supply chain processes, which are core processes of a manufacturing enterprise. Analysis of Manufacturing Enterprises is an excellent resource for researchers and professionals in the field of manufacturing engineering.

This book presents the different models of supply chain performance evaluation for global supply chains. It describes why it is necessary to evaluate global performance both to assess the contribution of the supply chain to achieve the goals of creating value throughout the chain and also to meet customer requirements in terms of time, responsiveness and reliability. The author provides an understanding of how evaluation models are chosen according to criteria including the level of maturity of the organization, the level of decision-making and the level of value creation desired.

With the ongoing growth of international trade between developed and developing countries the environmental, social and economic performance of supply chains is constantly under the spotlight, with reviews by academics (see a sample for the controversial textile and apparel industry in Ngai et al., 2014) and emphasis on practice (Zhou et al., 2014) to the fore. Focal companies are challenged to manage risks of media coverage often focusing on discovering social and environmental problems in the supply chains. The safest way to manage these risks is to prevent undesired sustainability problems. However, for modern brand leaders and focal companies managing sustainability performance has exceeded the stage of mere risk management. In practice, moving towards sustainability in supply chains involves a complex set of performance issues relating to social, environmental, technological, political and economic aspects and their integration as the recent clothing factory fires in Bangladesh illustrate. In this ebook of Supply Chain Management: an International Journal these matters are raised, as we move towards addressing the complexity of measuring and managing sustainability performance of supply chains.
