The long short story is a compelling literary form. Neither as brief as the classic short story nor as long as the novella, it is a piece of writerly art that can be read in a single sitting, yet allows the writer to properly explore setting, character, atmosphere and plot. In the hands of a master, 'the long short' is just the right length to provide an extraordinary reading experience- a story that you can sink into. The authors represented in this volume, the first of its kind in India, are Bolwar Mahamad Kunhi, Chetan Raj Shrestha, Gopikrishnan, Habib Kamran, Ismat Chughtai, Kamalakanta Mohapatra, K. R. Meera, Kolakaluri Enoch, Mahasweta Devi, Shripad Narayan Pendse, Nirmal Verma and Waryam Singh Sandhu. They tell stories of strong women and ruthless men, humour and pathos, town, village and countryside, death and oppression, crime and terror, love and witchcraft. Taken together, the stories in this book allow you to see India in ways that you have never done before.

This thought-provoking collection not only takes us into the past and the future, but also explores what might happen if we attempt to manipulate time to our own advantage. These stories show what happen once you start to meddle with time and the paradoxes that might arise. It also raises questions about whether we understand time, and how we perceive it. Once we move outside the present day, can we ever return or do we move into an alternate world? What happens if our meddling with Nature leads to time flowing backwards, or slowing down or stopping all together? Or if we get trapped in a constant loop from which we can never escape. Is the past and future immutable or will we ever be able to escape the inevitable? These are just some of the questions that are raised in these challenging, exciting and sometimes amusing stories by Kage Baker, Simon Clark, Fritz Leiber, Christopher Priest, Kristine Kathryn Rusch, Robert Silverberg, Michael Swanwick, John Varley and many others.

/head Once upon a time there was a little girl called Alexandra who asked her daddy, “Daddy, please tell me a stoooweee”. Well this is my story on how I created thousands of children stories. These stories come from a world where animals of all kinds all talk and learn, like children, about life. Around the age of three my daughter got tired of me reading little kiddy stories and asked me “Daddy, please tell me a stoooweee”. So every night I would make up a new short story. One day, when she was 7 years old, I decided to tape these stories so she could hear them over and over. Well that went on for 7 more years with over 110 hours and over 3,000 stories. There are so many stories that I will have to write many more volumes. So here we are, the first book is published and now kids all over the world can enjoy them as my daughter did for many years. The time you spend with your child is most rewarding. Never get tired of loving, kissing and hugging them, no matter how old they get. Please view the book website by Clicking here. Family storytelling offers many of the same advantages as book reading - and some new ones - for children's language and emotional development, coping skills, and sense of belonging. Tell Me a Story: Sharing Stories to Enrich Your Child's World shows parents how telling and sharing stories about family experiences can help children grow into healthy, happy adolescents and adults. Dr. Elaine Reese outlines the techniques that work best with children of all ages, from toddlers to teens, including children with learning delays and difficult temperaments. She also tackles challenging issues such as whether children profit at all from the stories that they experience through TV, movies, and video games; how storytelling differs from daughters to sons; and the best ways to continue to share family stories with children after a separation or divorce. Finally, Reese shares tips specially designed for storytelling with grandchildren, demonstrating how parents can and should continue to nurture family storytelling long after their children are grown, and especially once their children become parents themselves. Providing guidance on a positive, portable, and free way to enrich children's development, Tell Me a Story deserves a place in every parent's library.

We release the potential for development while laying a foundation for the processing of our daily experiences. Stories have the power to sneak up on us, catch us unaware, and in the process draw us closer to our fellow human beings . . . and to God. And when Tony Campolo tells a story, we are captivated and entertained by the amazing characters and situations he describes. You'll laugh (or wince) at how one particular missions offering was raised. You'll feel the tragedy of a friend Tony didn't stand up for. You'll thrill to the "Sunday's comin' " sermon. You'll be moved when you learn about the childhood event that caused Bishop Tutu to become a priest. These are stories of hope, doubt, faith, failure, and triumph. Of people standing up for justice, showing mercy, and living for God. But don't just expect to be entertained by Tony Campolo-though you will be.
