The Australian English Course is a two-level course for adult and young adults who want to learn general English for a range of social and transactional purposes. Level 1 is for post-beginners, people who have learned some English before. Level 2 is at pre-intermediate level and may be used after Level 1 or as a free standing course on its own.The course has been developed specifically for the Australian context and has been piloted in Australia and New Zealand. It is also suitable for use by people studying elsewhere, and who are going to visit or study in these countries. The Australian English Course is a two level course designed for adult and young adult learners who want to learn general English for a range of social and transactional purposes. Level 1 is for post beginners - people who have studied some English before. It has a task-based approach to language learning, with an emphasis on classroom activities which encourage learners to use language effectively. Each unit provides material for four or five hours of classroom work and focuses on a topic which has been selected to engage and motivate users.

English for the Australian Curriculum Book 1 privileges student experience, creative engagement with texts, moments of reflection and deep thinking. Drawing on an inquiry model of learning, it provides opportunities for students to write and create their own texts. Written for the Australian Curriculum, English for the Australian Curriculum Book 1 provides a fully balanced and integrated approach to the study of language, literature and literacy.
