A SCIENCE FICTION CLASSIC BACK IN PRINT! Simeon was a shell-person—the brain who ran Space Station SSS-900 on the fringes of human space. But things hadn’t been going too well lately, and he was more than a little discontented. Though normally he enjoyed his work, these days it seemed boring. To make matters worse, his long-time partner had just retired and he was having a hard time adjusting to his newly assigned brawn—a strong-willed woman named Channa Hap who seemed to feel it her duty to keep him in line. He’s buried himself in his favorite pastime—wargaming. Simeon’s hobby would find unexpected uses when the brutal Kolnari attack the nearby colony planet Bethel. Sheltering the colony’s refugees brought “the city” an invitation to serious trouble with Kolnari pirates. And only Simeon and Channa working together can save the city. At the publisher’s request, this title is sold without DRM (Digital Rights Management). About Death of Sleep by Anne McCaffrey and Jody Lynn Nye: “McCaffrey has created a feisty, likable character in Lunzie Mespil.” —Publishers Weekly About S.M. Two novels in one large volume, both set in the same universe as The Ship Who Sang: The City Who Fought: Simeon was bored with running the mining and processing station that made up his "body." If anyone was to survive, somehow he must transform his wargaming hobby into the real thing and become The City Who Fought. The Ship Avenged: Ten years later, Joat, the eleven year old techno-demon heroine of the first novel is now an adult herself. She and her ship are on the trail of the Kolnari space raiders, trying to stop them before they can spread an infectious, mind-destroying disease among the inhabited stars and destroy civilization throughout the galaxy. At the publisher's request, this title is sold without DRM (Digital Rights Management). "Anne McCaffrey and S.M. Three-time Hugo Award-winning and New York Times bestselling author N.K. Jemisin crafts her most incredible novel yet, a "glorious" story of culture, identity, magic, and myths in contemporary New York City. In Manhattan, a young grad student gets off the train and realizes he doesn't remember who he is, where he's from, or even his own name. But he can sense the beating heart of the city, see its history, and feel its power. In the Bronx, a Lenape gallery director discovers strange graffiti scattered throughout the city, so beautiful and powerful it's as if the paint is literally calling to her. In Brooklyn, a politician and mother finds she can hear the songs of her city, pulsing to the beat of her Louboutin heels. And they're not the only ones. Every great city has a soul. Some are ancient as myths, and others are as new and destructive as children. New York? She's got six. For more from N. K. An anthology of 31 essays by the philosophically gifted selected by the editors as historically significant to the "post" in postmodernism, exhibiting the shift away from documentation and interpretation to an exploration of significance. The collection begins with Francis Bacon and Rene Descartes, traveling into 19th century social theory with Marx and Nietzsche, the challenges to those theories presented by Dewey and Kuhn, and the deconstruction of modernity with Foucault, Derrida, and Cornel West. In the final section, Habermas and Benhabib (among others) respond to postmodernism, taking us into the post postmodern contexts of the future. Lacks an index. There are principalities and powers that stand in the way of the gospel. In the Bible, God showed Daniel that there would be four principalities to stand in the way of Israel to prevent it from being the nation from which the Messiah would come. There was no nation of Israel at the time and Daniel went to war fasting and praying; the Bible tells us that the principalities were overthrown. Daniel is one of the prophets who tackled principalities and powers for their overthrow — four principalities and powers. That is the only Bible equivalent of the kind of ministry the author, Z.T. Fomum carried out. In 1987, after God had given him the goal of our ministry, the Lord now showed him the principalities and powers that would stand as obstacles to the accomplishment of the goal. The overthrown of those principalities is the kind of ministry brother Zach carried out on behalf of God’s purposes and our ministry.

An often overlooked aspect of the American Civil War was the effort by the Confederate Navy to defend the Mississippi River in 1861 and 1862. Confederate officials struggled to build a navy from nothing, converting steamers into gunboats while working to build several ironclad warships from the keel up along the banks of the Mississippi River. The CSS McRae, originally a Mexican ship involved in the Reform War, was among the vessels acquired by the Confederacy at the start of the war. The McRae was originally intended to roam the seas as one of the first commerce raiders with a secret mission to travel to England and gather much-needed supplies for the new Confederacy. Instead, circumstances kept her on the Mississippi River, where she fought from the rivers mouth to the banks of Kentucky. Most notably, the McRae participated in the defense of New Orleans in April of 1862. Fought Like Devils shows how the Confederacy worked to build a navy and defend the most important waterway in North America. Drawing on government records, newspapers, personal letters, diaries, and reminisces; Neil P. Chatelain tells the story of the CSS McRae and its crew in their struggle to defend the Mississippi River for the Confederacy.
