The Dark Side of Organizational Behavior aims to gather all the micro- and meso-level topics about the dark side of organizations that may guide management practitioners, researchers, and students. The history before the modern human civilization is full of multiple types of conflicts, wars, struggles and violence. Modernization project has constructed a desired reality of human being and has somehow concealed the dark side of human interactions. Through this outlook, this book explores the realities of the dark side of organizations and how these realities may have the potential to change previous assumptions about business life. The field of organizational behavior is dominated by the positive aspects of the business life, but conflict, war, struggle, and violence have always been a part of history. It is not possible to isolate organizational participants from negative emotions like hostility, dislike, hate, jealousy, rage and revenge. A manager may devote most of their time to cope with conflicts, deviant behaviors, ambitious individuals, gossips and dysfunctional rivalry among employees. It is evident that negative events and interactions among employees cost more time and energy for a manager than the positive side of organizational life. Therefore, exploring the realities of the dark side of organizations may have the potential to change previous assumptions about business life. This book will be of interest to researchers, academics, practitioners, and advanced students in the fields of organizational studies and behavior, human resource management, employment relations, and organizational psychology.

The Dark Side of Close Relationships II is a completely new and up-to-date version of the original volume published in 1998, featuring new topics and authors. The volume showcases cutting-edge work on important topics by prominent scholars in multiple disciplines. It sheds light on the paradoxical, dialectical, and mystifying facets of human interaction, not merely to elucidate dysfunctional relationship phenomena, but to help readers explore and understand it in relation to a broader understanding about relationships. As previous Dark Side investigations have revealed, negative or dysfunctional outcomes can occur in relationships even though positive and functional ones are expected, and at the same time, positive silver linings are often found in some dark relational clouds. Such nuanced approaches are needed to better account for the complexity of close relationships. A unique and provocative collection, this volume will appeal to relationship researchers in communication, social psychology, family studies, and sociology.

With few exceptions, scholarship on creativity has focused on its positive aspects while largely ignoring its dark side. This includes not only creativity deliberately aimed at hurting others, such as crime or terrorism, or at gaining unfair advantages, but also the accidental negative side effects of well-intentioned acts. This book brings together essays written by experts from various fields (psychology, criminal justice, sociology, engineering, education, history, and design) and with different interests (personality development, mental health, deviant behavior, law enforcement, and counter-terrorism) to illustrate the nature of negative creativity, examine its variants, call attention to its dangers, and draw conclusions about how to prevent it or protect society from its effects.

“Using her deep understanding of self-psychological theory and her own extensive clinical experience, Karen Krett offers us a scholarly yet down-to-earth examination of hope. For too long, hope has been promoted as an unmitigated virtue without any consideration of its dark side. Yet as Krett shows through revealing clinical examples, hope may also impede development and contribute to psychological suffering. Her book serves as a wonderful guide from hope’s dark side to the light.” Doris Brothers, Ph.D., author of Toward a Psychology of Uncertainty: Trauma-Centered Psychoanalysis and Falling Backward: An Exploration of Trust and Self-Experience. Hope saturates the cultural air we breathe: in movies, songs, advertising, political slogans and self-help books. Now, for the first time, Karen Krett, LCSW, is putting “hope” on the therapist’s couch. Krett examines the duality of hope. In childhood, hope can be the emotional glue that keeps us from falling apart, from losing the thread of life. In adulthood, unconscious patterns of hoping for what can never be often interfere with our ability to make good choices in love and work. It may seem as if giving up any hope would mean the end of us, but Krett offers a refreshingly different perspective: by breaking the hold of the dark side of hope, we can become free to direct ourselves toward hopes which can be realized.

Being a leader and saving one’s soul by successfully doing one’s job is a very complex mission. Too often, leadership is but a footnote to ‘a Faustian pact’, an ethical hell that requires the conscientious use of an internal moral GPS. Faust’s story is a guide, capable of giving substance to our most hidden shadows, living with the presence of good and evil, re-establishing a relationship with nature and trying to recover that feminine energy that is present in each of us, often repressed. It could become a lifesaver for learning to juggle in a world that burns everything and everyone on the altar of profit. It is a tale that represents the effort to go beyond rationality and the accumulation of knowledge, a journey to escape the boredom of a life lived through the eyes of others. Perhaps at the end of this journey we will be able to smile at what K. Kraus writes: ‘The devil is an optimist if he thinks he can make men worse’. After all, by now, dear Mephistopheles, I know what you look like, and you are an optimist if you think I will sign a pact with you. Or maybe not?

In my first cipher text titled Baptist Gnostic Christian Eubonic Kundalinion Spiritual Ki Do Hermeneutic Metaphysics, ISBN #0595206780, I discussed the Biblical science of the brazen serpent passed down through Moses in the science of the Nehushtan. In this text, I decipher several pieces of Egyptian artwork found in the Eternal Egypt exhibit. I provide this to show that I have knowledge and understanding of the Egyptian sacred priesthood knowledge. I use the symbolic language as the standard. I also give a deciphered meaning to the Egyptian art piece Stela 55001 which Egyptologists have secretly unsuccessfully been trying to decipher for over thirty years. I offer you the findings of my research and many terms that may not be in your vocabulary. Maybe "you should" look them up! I relate this to a hidden exlanation of the Book of the Revelation that I found. I am talking about the mystery found in The Bible at Revelation 13:18. I reveal what I think "the bolt of brama nidi" is in Kundalini yoga.

From his first comic-book appearance in 1939 through his many incarnations on the big screen, the archetypal superhero known as The Batman has never been far from the American consciousness. The character shaped the way we read comics and graphic novels, view motion pictures, and analyze the motifs of the Hero, the Anti-Hero and the Villain. He has also captured the scholarly imagination, telling us much about our society and ourselves. These essays examine how Batman is both the canvas on which our cultural identity is painted, and the Eternal Other that informs our own journeys of understanding. Questions relating to a wide range of disciplines--philosophy, literature, psychology, pop culture, and more--are thoroughly and entertainingly explored, in a manner that will appeal both to scholars and to fans of the Caped Crusader alike.
