The Education System In Malawi

'The Education System in Malawi', an Education Country Status Report (CSR), is a detailed analysis of the current status of the education sector in Malawi, the results of which have been validated by the government of Malawi. Its main purpose is to enable decision makers to orient national policy on the basis of a factual diagnosis of the overall education sector and to provide relevant analytical information for the dialogue between the government and development partners. The analysis incorporates data and information from multiple sources, such as school administrative surveys by the Ministry of Education, household surveys, and a tracer survey created especially for this study. This CSR, developed by a multi-ministerial national team supported by UNESCO P le de Dakar, the World Bank, and GTZ specialists, updates the previous one drawn up in 2003 and consists of eight chapters, including a chapter on higher education. The analysis provides key monitoring and evaluation inputs for the overall education sector, particularly under the framework of the implementation of the National Education Sector Plan.

Draws on the methodology of World Development Report 1993: Investing in Health to analyze the burden of disease and the cost-effectiveness of health care interventions. The analysis presents a framework for the activities of the government of Guinea in prioritizing health care services.

Malawi is a landlocked country located in southeastern Africa. It is one of the smallest countries on the African continent, with a total population of around 19.13 million people. The country is bordered by Tanzania to its northeast, Zambia to its west, and Mozambique to its east and south. Malawi is known for its natural beauty, including Lake Malawi, which is the third-largest lake in Africa and the ninth-largest lake in the world. Malawi was previously known as Nyasaland, a British protectorate. The country gained independence in 1964 and has since become a democratic republic with a multi-party political system. Malawi's economy is predominantly agricultural, with a large portion of the population involved in subsistence farming. Despite some economic progress in recent years, Malawi is considered one of the poorest countries in the world, with high levels of poverty, unemployment, and gender inequality.

The major purpose of this book is to critically examine the applicability of manifestations and factors of secularization in Britain to Malawi. The book was guided by the key research question, "Are the manifestations and factors of secularization in Britain applicable to Malawi?" The question was supported by other follow up questions, namely, "What were the factors that contributed to the rise of secularization in Britain?" "What is the connection between Britain and Malawi?" "To what extent does secularization in Britain affect that in Malawi?" "Does Malawi have unique factors that are specific or are the same factors at work that have contributed to the process of secularization in Britain?"

The objective of this report is to inform an improved understanding of expenditure allocations and processes, the quality of service delivery in terms of inputs and outputs, and educational outcomes associated with primary education in Malawi. The report will also assess the government’s own diagnosis of challenges in the primary education sub-sector, and the reform program intended to address them. The findings of this report are intended to inform discussions as to how to strengthen the government program and associated financing mechanisms, to enhance the likelihood of success.
