God declares in the Quran, The only religion in the sight of Allah is Islam, and that if anyone desires a religion other than Islam, it will not be accepted from him: Therefore, seeking knowledge about Islam is the inviolable, sacrosanct duty of all human beings. It is binding upon all to familiarize themselves with the tenets of Islam, which Allah declares in His infallible Book, the Quran, to be the religion which he has chosen for mankind. Ignorance about its indubitable words of wisdom and human salvation does not give anyone the license to deny this religion of Allah. Indeed, such ignorance an inexcusable moral condition. This book presents the foremost principles of Islam in a very comprehensible, reader-friendly, lucid, and concise manner. The purpose of the book is to provide its readers with full details about articles of faith, the pillars of Islam and general rules encompassing all prohibitions pertaining to food and drink, clothes, professions, matters of family relations, etc. in a very clear and conclusive manner, which is in consonance with the teachings of the Quran. Islam represents Divine religion, which is free from ambiguity and dissonance. This book aims at building faith in precisely this manner. It is a work par excellence, which teaches in the simplest and most pellucid fashion the tenets which are the building blocks of Islam. The ineffable beauty of this book is the brevity of its language and the precision of its teachings.

Although the institution of marriage has been in existence since the creation of the human race, mankind has struggled to achieve the peace and security that this institution is supposed to offer. Many books have been written and numerous seminars and conferences have been held to answer the often asked question What is the recipe for a blissful marriage?, and although many suggestions have been offered, the rate of divorce continues to increase. The author relentlessly pursued and researched this line of study, taking him back to the first human creation, bringing him nearer to the origin of this institution and its originator. Throughout the ages, many billions of people have followed this tradition in which the lawful reproductions of the human race have been ensured. As time elapsed and man went astray from the divine guidance that came to him, the originator sends constant reminders of the rules, as once sent to the prophets that are supposed to guide us. However, again and again we have chosen to ignore these rules that are supposed to secure that peaceful, happy, tranquil, and durable relationship between husband and wife. Cultural Perception of Marriage among Muslims is filled with advice and a recipe for success for people of all races and colours, religion and locales, of how a blissful marriage can be achieved when drawn from the divine text. So whether you are married or hope to get married one day, this book will be of great benefit and a blessing. This book is to be studied and used as a point of reference in order to avoid the pitfalls of disunity and disagreement and separation between a husband and wife, avoiding a problematic marriage.

Challenging the conservative framers of Islamic law who accorded a lesser status to women, Mohammad Ali Syed argues that the Quran and the Hadith—the two primary sources of Islamic law—actually place Muslim women on the same level as Muslim men. Syed provides an overview of both sources and explores their respective roles in Islamic law, emphasizing the Quran's role as the supreme authority and questioning the authenticity of some of the alleged sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). From these texts, he elaborates women's rights in a variety of areas, including treatment by God; marriage, divorce, financial provisions, and custody of children; coming out of seclusion (purdah), and taking part in social, economic, legal, and political activities. Rather than presenting what is practiced today, the book covers the theoretical position of Muslim women as sanctioned by the Quran and the authentic Hadith and offers a glimpse of the exalted position of honor and dignity enjoyed by Muslim women in the early days of Islam. This well-researched book is made more distinctive by the author's personal experience. Raised in Bengal, India, Syed was inspired by his family, who valued men and women equally. As he grew up, Syed realized that most Muslim women lived very differently than the women of his family. According to the author, his family was egalitarian because his father and male relatives were not only devout Muslims but also very knowledgeable about Islam. This book is a culmination of his lifelong concern for women's rights under Islam.

This book is the result of a need which I sensed after my first three years in Canada. A person in my position as a religious guide is always confronted by people with questions related to their religious and personal problems. Unlike the atmosphere in the East where the contact is more on a personal level, the contact in this part of the world is more through correspondence and telephone calls. I soon realized that whenever the question was 'embarrassing' or related to sexual behavior, the caller would prefer not to give his or her name. And, of course, I had no reason to insist on knowing the identity of the callers; my only duty is to listen and convey the Islamic view to those who seek. However, what was most interesting about these 'embarrassing' questions was that in majority of cases the callers were feeling guilty for actions that were absolutely permissible in Islam. But because of their ignorance or misinformation, they had been feeling guilty for things which were not at all forbidden in the Islamic shari'ah. And I said to myself: There must be many more people out there who are going through similar experience, feeling guilty and depressed; and all this because of ignorance! Not all have the courage to talk on such issues or even call without revealing their identity. And so I decided that I have to do something. This book is one of the many Islamic publications distributed by Ahlulbayt Organization throughout the world in different languages with the aim of conveying the message of Islam to the people of the world. Ahlulbayt Organization (www.shia.es) is a registered Organization that operates and is sustained through collaborative efforts of volunteers in many countries around the world, and it welcomes your involvement and support. Its objectives are numerous, yet its main goal is to spread the truth about the Islamic faith in general and the Shia School of Thought in particular due to the latter being misrepresented, misunderstood and its tenets often assaulted by many ignorant folks, Muslims and non-Muslims. Organization's purpose is to facilitate the dissemination of knowledge through a global medium, the Internet, to locations where such resources are not commonly or easily accessible or are resented, resisted and fought!
