What is God? Does he exist? Can we know? The God Confusion offers a down-to-earth beginner's guide for anyone interested in these questions. It does not evangelize for God and religion or, indeed, for atheism, secularism and science. Instead, it explores in a witty yet objective and balanced way the idea of God and the strengths and weaknesses of the standard arguments for his existence. Gary Cox shows that the philosophical reasoning at the heart of these arguments is logically incapable of moving beyond speculation to any kind of proof. The only credible philosophical position is therefore agnosticism. The God Confusion defends science generally and the theory of evolution in particular. It argues that if religion is not to appear increasingly outdated and ridiculous in the eyes of free-thinking, educated people, it must accommodate science and accept that science has replaced the old God of the gaps as an explanation of natural phenomena. Concluding that God may or may not exist, on the grounds that science, philosophy and theology are inherently incapable of proving or disproving his existence, The God Confusion acknowledges that religious faith based on a deliberate commitment to live as though there is a moral God is a coherent notion and a worthwhile, even prudent enterprise. At the same time, it rejects the idea of inner certainty as mere wishful thinking, arguing that it is not a coherent basis for belief and is simply bad faith.

For so many of us, our friends are like family members--we lean on them through our highest highs and our lowest lows--but sometimes those friendships don't turn out quite as we hoped. Bible teacher Kelly Needham debunks our world's constricted, narrow view of friendship and casts a richer, more life-giving, biblical vision for friendship. In Friend-ish, Kelly Needham reminds us that we were called to more than halfhearted friendships and lukewarm connections. We need something more stable, secure, and sacred. We were designed for real friendship--but the difficult truth is that too many of us are settling for less. Kelly deconstructs what Scripture says about the gift of friendship and takes a closer look at the distorted view that most of us have instead. As she shares the lessons she's learned from experience, Kelly paints her own glorious vision of what Christian friendship could look like. With hard-fought wisdom, a clear view of Scripture, and a been-there perspective, Friend-ish teaches us how to: Recognize symptoms of idolatry and toxic dependency Boldly ask for what we need from our community of friends Understand and address the problems that arise in friendship--from neediness to discord Recognize when it's time to end an unhealthy friendship Reorient toward the purposeful, loving relationships we all crave that ultimately bring us closer to God Find the friends you need and start to become that friend for others Join Kelly as she challenges you to view your chosen family in a new light, gain a vision of friendship according to Jesus, and finally enjoy friendships as God intended.

"Looking for God within the Kingdom of Religious Confusion" *Unbiased, integrating journey into the deep-seated strife between and within Judaism, Christianity, Islam and Secularism*Educational, engaging and compassionate - based on religious facts *A fictional bridge to the more comprehensive and non-fictional viewpoints on God, Religion, Secular and Spiritual values*Challenges the reader to reflect on their personal faith, or non-belief, and their tolerance of others with differing views "Devastated by his young daughter's tragic death, Jacob is determined to find God to ask Him why He allowed her tragedy to occur. No longer sure where to find Him, or if God truly exists, Jacob travels through the 'Ancient Gates of Abraham' to wander across the contradictory and prejudiced roads within the Kingdom of Religious Confusion. Repeatedly challenged to remain open-minded he engages religious leaders, devout followers, agnostics and atheists along passages as 'Born again Street', 'Fundamentalist Drive', 'Junction of the Majority', 'Path of Disbelief', and many more, in commonsense conversations to understand why their philosophy alone will lead him to God, or prove God's non-existence. Yet the further he travels the more confused he becomes, and it is not until his arduous journey nears its end that he recognizes a culminating revelation - insight he was not expecting to unearth.""...this book is then both a bridge to nonfiction works that discuss religion in greater depth and a map out of the confusion that religions have wrought in the name of God." -- Sankara Saranam: Author/Philosopher "An engaging, educational journey to find the truth about God and Religion" -- Rick Sigel: Author "Retail Marketing for Dummies, and The Essential Online Solution""Schade's eloquent and engaging approach to a highly debatable subject matter compels the reader to become involved in the work." -- Editors Choice Award ...
