Why is there a world? Does it reflect the presence of God in any way? Did the world spontaneously come into existence or is there a creator? How will it end? Does God Exist? It proceeds on the basis that Einstein was right when he said that "science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind." This book opposes the view that we are survival machines and argues that such an explanation is incomplete and is not justified either by science or religion.

Science also uses models to advance its knowledge, and in a scientific age a model of God as the Cosmic Scientist interacting with the traditional could communicate well. Do we all possess a soul? If so, what is it? Can it be defined? Crawford argues that it is important that we have a soul because if it is immortal then we can hope for life after death. But some religions insist that it is the resurrection of the body which is vital.
