Excerpt from The History of Chippenham I foresaw the probability that, as the Jackson Papers had left the County, their very existence would soon be forgotten; I therefore proposed to myself to cull out of the Canon's Memorabilia, manu script and printed, those facts which had reference of immediate interest to Chippenham, and to frame a narrative which I might supplement by my own reading and observation.
