Volume II of Jacques-B�nigne Bossuet's two volume tome, translated from the French.As the title indicates, this is a history; but the story line follows the myriad of doctrinal changes within the reform movement from the outset, rather than simply a chronology of historical events. Volume II focuses heavily upon the early heresies, (Manicheism, the Vadois, Waldensians, Albigenses, etc.) and the Reformers' vain efforts to find with them, any plausible historical connections, in order to establish a lineage to the early Church. The pages fly by quickly and the writer's insights are marvelous. Jacques-B�nigne Bossuet (1627 - 1704) was a French bishop and theologian, renowned for his sermons and other addresses. He has been considered by many to be one of the most brilliant orators of all time and a masterly French stylist.
