"Living by faith" is much more than a general Christian precept; it is the fundamental posture of believers in a world rife with suffering and injustice. In this penetrating reflection on the meaning of "justification," Oswald Bayer shows how this key religious term provides a comprehensive horizon for discussing every aspect of Christian theology, from creation to the end times. Inspired by and interacting with Martin Luther, the great Christian thinker who grappled most intensely with the concept of justification, Bayer explores anew the full range of traditional dogmatics (sin, redemption, eschatology, and others), placing otherwise complex theological terms squarely within their proper milieu -- everyday life. In the course of his discussion, Bayer touches on such deep questions as the hidden nature of God, the hope for universal justice, the problem of evil, and -- one of the book's most engaging motifs -- Job's daring lawsuit with God.

The Principles God Respects: Living by Faith is the Key to Success "And without faith it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek Him" (Hebrews 11:6 NIV). Whether you are a young believer or have walked with the Lord for years, God expects you to walk in faith-that is, to walk according to the principles God sets forth in Hebrews 11:6. The important idea to remember here is to believe God exists and to keep Him foremost in your mind and actions. He cares for you, but at the same time, unless you exercise faith (trust and confidence) in Him and His Word, your Christian life will not prosper as it should. Although there are many ways you can live for the Lord and serve Him, unless you perform these acts by faith, they won't count for much in your Christian life. In fact, Hebrews 11:6 spells out what God requires of us: that is, to live and walk by faith. The great reformer, Martin Luther, discovered this truth back in 1517 when God showed him how to obtain peace with God. Luther was a Catholic monk who spent hours on his knees trying to find forgiveness for his sins. Then, the Lord revealed Romans 1:17 to him: "The just shall live by faith." From that moment on, Luther knew his sins were forgiven and he had peace with God.

Dr. J. Vernon McGee turns to the Epistle of James to present very practical lessons on Christian living. The subject of James is faith. The Epistle of James "pinches," says Dr. McGee. It "hurts you because he gets right down to where we are living-or, more accurately, to where we're not living." He challenges believers to a faith that works and walks in shoe leather. Because James emphasizes the ethics of the Christian faith, Dr. McGee uses the metaphor of "God's University." When life presents us with "quizzes" or "tests," Dr. McGee explains, the believer need not worry because James has provided us not only with the test questions, but also the answers. Chapters cover such relevant topics as: gossiping, worldly versus heavenly wisdom, the testing of faith through trials, God's condemnation of class distinctions, confession and forgiveness of sins, effective prayer, faith versus works, resisting the devil, and finding the meaning of life.

Divine health and prosperity are better than divine healing and provision. If you live in divine health and prosperity, you wont need a miracle to get healed or to pay your bills. If you cant see the difference between the two, that may be one reason you only visit Gods best instead of truly living in it. Most Christians live in a place where...
