W hen Jesus gave his followers the model prayer commonly called ?The Lord?s Prayer,? he asked them to pray that their Father in heaven would bring His kingdom to Earth. That event has not yet happened, but it will. The King and His Kingdom Have Come is a fictional history of the Father?s kingdom taking over the governments of the world. It is unlikely that the Father is going to suddenly pop up on Earth somewhere and announce that he is king. That is why The King and His Kingdom Have Come presents a core team spending five years preparing. During that preparation, things seemingly begin to happen, and God becomes a talking point. Five years after preparations begin, the Father?s kingdom is established in Olympic Park in Sydney, Australia, which is as good a place as any other for it. Once the kingdom has been established, there are huge changes around the world in the way life is being lived, such as no more politics or taxes.

Jesus' final words to his disciples ring down through the ages: preach the gospel to every individual and disciple every nation. Preach the gospel? Got it. But what does it mean to disciple the nations? Do I preach or teach? To individuals or groups of people? What exactly did Jesus want me to do? Come explore these questions through Scripture, history, and the ideas and experiences of those who are actively engaged in discipling nations. You'll discover that God's kingdom comes in and through many ministries, vocations, and locations-from university campuses to developing regions, in kitchens and boardrooms, through government, journalism, and the arts. All followers of Christ, not a select group, are needed to bring God's grace and truth to individuals, cultures, and nations, to do the works God prepared in advance for us to do. Jesus' words are for each of us, wherever we are and whatever God has gifted us to do. What does it look like for you, for the body of Christ worldwide, to respond passionately and creatively to the call of God in our day to see every person and every nation transformed?

Thomas Schreiner, a respected scholar and a trusted voice for many students and pastors, offers a substantial and accessibly written overview of the whole Bible. He traces the storyline of the scriptures from the standpoint of biblical theology, examining the overarching message that is conveyed throughout. Schreiner emphasizes three interrelated and unified themes that stand out in the biblical narrative: God as Lord, human beings as those who are made in God's image, and the land or place in which God's rule is exercised. The goal of God's kingdom is to see the king in his beauty and to be enraptured in his glory.

According to the Lord Jesus Christ, our first priority must be to seek the kingdom of God. The aim of Matthew's Gospel is to help the Christian to fulfil that duty. To do this, we must above all honour, trust and serve the King himself, Jesus Christ. This commentary is, therefore, both Christ-centred and practical. Its focus is the King and his kingdom. The Gospel begins with the assertion that God's King has come to reign, to establish the kingdom of heaven. The time has come for Old Testament prophecy to be fulfilled and God's purpose of salvation to be put into effect. Our message, then, must call on men to believe in the King, to repent of sin and 'to seek first his kingdom and his righteousness'. In this way men and women will share in the salvation that the King came to bring, leading them also to work for the coming of the kingdom through the preaching of the gospel.
