Beau Brummell was an iconic figure in Regency-era England fashion. He established the Regency fashion trend for perfectly-tailored and fitted men's clothing, consisting of full-length trousers, immaculate linens and elaborately-tied cravats. He, and his circle of fashionistas, were termed dandies. Brummell famously claimed that it took him five hours a day to get dressed! Once a favorite and friend of the Prince Regent, they had a rather public falling-out. In 1816, Brummell fled to France to escape debtor's prison. He lived the remainder of his life in exile.
