Volume 1 of Stalking the Antichrists and Their False Nuclear Prophets, Nuclear Gladiators, and Spirit Warriors,1940-1965 is essentially an enhanced memoir. It is based for the most part on my personal observations and knowledge and specialized information from my academic studies of history, political science, and literature at Grove City College and the University of Chicago,as well as my professional insights into the heart of the U. S. Navy (1953-1957, 1960-1961[OP- 09D]) as an Air Intelligence Officer in Hawaii and Japan and the Pentagon; political- military/counsellor assignments in the State Department as a Foreign Service Officer(FSO-6) at the American embassy in Paris (1962-64); and a speechwriter in the Navy Department (1965). In volume 2, the textual narrative begins with the end of my specific actions/ activities in the Navy and Foreign Service in July 1965, which I have called How I Lived in History, 1950-1965. In retrospect my entire Navy careerfrom my commissioning as Ensign USNR, 1355 AIO, in early September 1953 at Naval Station, Newport, Rhode Island, to my first honorable discharge at Treasure Island on August 27, 1957was in preparation to an understanding of World War II and the Cold War.

ON THE WATERS The best stories from FINS & FEATHERS To read these short essays of fishing adventures by Ray Kucharski you come to appreciate the joy he gets from each fishing day and each cast he makes. The stories are not only charming but also informative about ways of catching the wily fish. Each story describes the delight that an avid fisherman like Ray feels for the sport of fishing. One gains many insights and some important learning lessons for life that this sport gives to all those who do it. Ray has been writing these stories for over ten years for the small Waterville community paper, The Waterville Wig Wag. He also has written for American Angler and Flyfishing & Tying Journal magazines. My husband David and I, editors of the small paper encouraged Ray to put these many stories together as a group of essays. I am sure you will enjoy these tales of New Hampshire and New England fishing as our readers have. Even if you are not a fisherman you will not be bored. I never was. It is based on the inspiring definitions of the word introduction (1651): My actions of bringing in a newly weapon (since August 1945) brought into the world and to its process of the application in war and with an in-depth initiation in the knowledge of elementary instruction regarding Deterrents and Deterrence thereof, which leads to the knowledge or understanding of the impact of both fission and fusion nuclear weapons on war/politics/foreign policy/strategy and the fate of the Earth/Gaia/Gods Creation, thanks to my insights gained personally at Grove City College, the University of Chicago, U.S. Navy (Air Intelligence Officer) and State Department (Foreign Service Officer) and herewith presented as my introduction to the formal introduction of my halting, but determined attempts to deter a thermonuclear World War III and Armageddon too (1945-2012). Meet Elvis Cole, L.A. private eye . . . he quotes Jiminy Cricket and carries a .38. He’s a literate, wisecreacking Vietnam vet who is determined never to grow up. The blonde who walked into Cole’s office was the bestlooking woman he’d seen in weeks. The only thing that kept her from rating a perfect “10” was the briefcase on one arm and the uptight hotel magnate on the other. Bradley Warren had lost something very valuable—something that belonged to someone else: a rare thirteenth-century Japanese manuscript called the Hagakure. Just about all Cole knew about Japanese culture he’d learned from reading Shogun, but he knew a lot about crooks—and what he didn’t know his sociopathic sidekick, Joe Pike, did. Together their search begins in L.A.’s Little Tokyo and the nest of notorious Japanese mafia, the yakuza, and leads to a white-knuckled adventure filled with madness, murder, sexual obsession, and a stunning double-whammy ending. For Elvis Cole, it’s just another day’s work. Praise for Stalking the Angel “Stalking the Angel is a righteous California book: intelligent, perceptive, hard, clean.”—James Ellroy “Out on the West Coast, where private eyes thrive like avocado trees, Robert Crais has created an interesting and amusing hero in Elvis Cole.”—The Wall Street Journal “Devotees of the rock ‘em, sock ‘em school should find [Stalking the Angel] tasty.”—The San Diego Union

Rescuing wild animals in distress requires a unique set of skills, very different from those used in handling domestic animals. The equipment, degree of handling, the type of caging and level of care a wild animal receives can mean the difference between life and death. Wildlife Search and Rescue is a comprehensive guide on ‘best practices’ and suggested standards for response to sick, injured and orphaned wildlife. This valuable resource covers the fundamentals of wildlife rescue, from ‘phone to field’, including safe and successful capture strategies, handling and restraint techniques and initial aid. Wildlife Search and Rescue is a must have for anyone interested in knowing what to do when they are face to face with a wild animal in need, or for anyone involved in animal rescue. While the book focuses on wildlife native to North America, much of the information and many of the techniques are applicable to other species, including domestic dogs and cats. Fakes, folk music, and ghost fires When legendary folk singer Lara Fairplay agrees to make her comeback debut at Pirate’s Cove’s annual maritime music festival, everyone in the quaint seaside village is delighted—including mystery bookstore owner and sometimes amateur sleuth, Ellery Page. Better yet, Lara is scheduled to perform a recently discovered piece of music attributed to “The Father of American Music,” Stephen Foster, which will hopefully bring large crowds and a lot of business. Several mysterious accidents later, Ellery is less delighted as his suspicion grows that someone plans to silence the celebrity songbird forever.
