This eBook is a reproduction of an important historical work of Albert Edward Wiggam, which was published between 1925 and 1930. In this eBook, you will discover that an educated man (or woman) is not a personality with abundant academic degrees but with the following traits: ability to cultivates open-mind, ability to listen, never laugh at new ideas, knows the secret of getting along with other people, cultivates the habit of success, controls his/her thoughts, always ready to learn new things, always confidence about his/her skills and many more. In addition, you will be exposed to the following basic features of Life: Life is Practical (Education must be usable); Life is Dynamic (Education must be vital, alive, and active.); Life is Recreative (Education must train men and women –young and old, for play as well as for work.); Life is friendly (Education should teach humanity the art of friendship with all races, colors and creeds.); Life is cooperative (Education must teach a man/woman his/her place in the community and his/her duties toward it.); Life is idealistic (Education must be practical because life is a hard practical thing; but it must be idealistic because man is a dreamer; and "dreams are the makers and feeders of the world.) As stated in the book, which was based on the surveyed carried out by Dr. David Mitchell by examining many hundreds of people. If you will ask the next one hundred people you meet what they would do if they had plenty of money and were free to do as they pleased, without a single exception they will answer with the one word, “Travel”. Also, according to the author, large lustrous eyes may indicate intelligence, but having tested a great many people with large lustrous eyes and found them feeble-minded. Coarse hair does not indicate a coarse nature, and red hair does not indicate a fiery temperament. Blonds and brunets are equally good salesmen, buyers and executives. I hope this book shall convince the reader that the different in men and women is not the superior of mental ability but merely understanding a difference in mental habits. Of Course, every educated man or woman must understand this!

In The Analytical Writing Adrienne Robins explains college writing as a process of discovery, as a series of strategies that any college student can learn to apply. All strategies explained in this text are based on sound theories of teaching writing and on the patterns of successful writers. Writing and thinking should not be separated, and presenting only the steps without the accompanying explanation of how they influence thinking would be of little more help than having no method at all. By using this text the students will see as they plan, draft, and revise how their writing helps clarify their thoughts. This clearly written and engaging textbook is illustrated by real examples of student writing and appropriate cartoons. The second edition was revised and updated based on the large-scale evaluation of the first edition completed by professors and students. The new edition reflects four essential values: recognizing the diversity of writing processes, the necessity of peer and teacher interaction with the writer on drafts, the integration of writing and reading, and the appropriate uses of technology. Specific features of this second edition include: -new writing samples -electronic citation formats -updated library use chapter with technological guidance -concise paragraph chapter -revised introduction and conclusion chapter -rhetorical as well as grammatical explanations for punctuation usage -new cartoons -exercises drawn from students' papers -a condensed chapter on research papers -and an expanded, and clearer, chapter on special assignments and other writing tasks A Collegiate Press book

Imagining Medieval English is concerned with how we think about language, and simply through the process of thinking about it, give substance to an array of phenomena, including grammar, usage, variation, change, regional dialects, sociolects, registers, periodization, and even language itself. Leading scholars in the field explore conventional conceptualisations of medieval English, and consider possible alternatives and their implications for cultural as well as linguistic history. They explore not only the language's structural traits, but also the sociolinguistic and theoretical expectations that frame them and make them real. Spanning the period from 500 to 1500 and drawing on a wide range of examples, the chapters discuss topics such as medieval multilingualism, colloquial medieval English, standard and regional varieties, and the post-medieval reception of Old and Middle English. Together, they argue that what medieval English is, depends, in part, on who's looking at it, how, when and why.
