In the six years since The Men’s Sheds Movement book in 2015, the Movement has broadened to include many other nations and also Women’s Sheds, encompassing almost 3,000 Sheds worldwide to 2021. Shoulder to Shoulder: Broadening the Men’s Shed Movement shines a light on the transformational experiences and positive impact that Sheds have had on the lives, health and wellbeing of men, women, families and communities. Community-run men's sheds have recently developed and proliferated, mainly across parts of southern Australia and with higher proportions of older men not in work. This study examines their role as a place for older men to learn informally. It concludes that such sheds have important wellbeing and health benefits, primarily for older and retired men.

While first person interpretation and historic crafts have long been part of the museum world, current movements in the maker movement in libraries and schools have occurred mostly outside of the museum world. Instead, Makerspace in Museums: Hands-On History in Museums and Historic Sites shows the importance of the Maker Movement for museums and historic sites, and presents a roadmap to building, planning, researching, and using a makerspace alongside more traditional museum programming.
