The Moon Goddess and the king of the forest fell in love, but their love was that of a forbidden love. Separated by the rulers of earth they lived on but she bore his sons and daughter. Afraid that she couldn't care for them she cast them off into the clans beneath her along with her Wrath, Sloth, Envy, Gluttony, Lust, Pride and Greed. Because they were her children they suffered in many ways but they knew that they were the chosen ones and needed to endure all the sufferings so that one day, they could be happy.

This study treats the religious and intellectual history of the city of Harran (Eastern Turkey) from biblical times down to the establishment of Islam. The author starts from the well-known reference in the Qur'an and the early Islamic histories to the people of Harran as Sabians, one of the 'peoples of the book.' The author unravels strands of religious tradition in Harran that run from the old Semitic planetary cults through Hellenistic hermeticism, gnosticism, and Neo-Pythagoreanism and Christian cults to esoteric Islamic sects such as the Sufis and Shiites.

"Praise to the Moon" presents each moon phase, exploring its inherent qualities and relevant deities, with appropriate celebrations, rituals, invocations, and magic. Related material encompasses spells, recipes, incenses, the Celtic Tree Calendar, the Indian Lunar Zodiac, and the impact of eclipses and the zodiac signs.
