As a daily newspaper reporter for 38 years and author of four books on fear management and stress, I did not enter lightly into a book on poltergeists. Some of my colleagues who know me as an investigator of everything from the Aids epidemic to serial killers to nepotism in government hiring, may shudder at the thought of my now entering into the shadowy world of the paranormal.
