An ultimate God, being transcendent, is beyond description in literal terms; our knowledge of the divine nature must be indirect. A prime means of such an indirect approach to the divine is through the religious mythologies that have captivated humankind throughout recorded time, and even earlier. After considering the limitations of scientific thinking in dealing with questions of ultimate meaning and value, Anthony O’Hear argues that we should be open to taking religious mythologies seriously. We could, and probably should, see each of these mythologies as partial revelations, each capturing some aspect of the divine. They aim at truth, and should be valued as such, for their own particular insights and traditions of practice, but no single myth can capture the whole truth. Each is necessarily filtered through fallible human imagery and thought. So, while respecting and prioritizing our own favored myth, we should also be open to illumination from myths originating in different times and cultures for their own unique vision and approach.

In the early 1690s Roger North was preparing to remove from London to Rougham, Norfolk, where he planned to continue his search for truth, which for him meant knowledge of nature, including human nature. But this search was interrupted by three events. First, between c.1704 and the early part of 1706, he read Newton’s book on rational (quantitative) mechanics and, afterwards, his book on optics in Clarke’s Latin translation. Second, towards the latter part of 1706, he and Clarke, a Norfolk clergyman, corresponded about matters relating to Newton’s two books, after which Clarke removed to London and the correspondence ceased. Third, in 1712 North received a letter from Clarke, requesting him to read and respond to his new publication on the philosophy of the Godhead. As Kassler details, each of these events presented a number of challenges to North’s values, as well as the way of philosophising he had learned as a student and practitioner of the common law. Because he never made public his responses to the challenges, her book also includes editions of North's notes on reading Newton’s books, as well as what now remains of the 1706 and later correspondence with Clarke. In addition, she presents analyses of some of North’s ’second thoughts’ about the issues raised in the notes and 1706 correspondence and, from an examination of Clarke’s main writings, provides a context for understanding the correspondence relating to the 1712 book.

The Truth Agenda explores some of the most famous unexplained mysteries and global cover-ups of recent history. What is the truth about UFOs, pyramids, religious apparitions, psychic phenomena, visions of the future and ancient prophecies, and what is their connection to famous conspiracy theories concerning the Moon landings, 9/11, the New World Order, and claims that the planet is secretly run by a powerful ruling elite? Leading mysteries researcher Andy Thomas pulls the many threads together in an accessible, stimulating and credible overview which suggests that our world may be very different from the picture presented by the establishment. The Truth Agenda shows how we can avoid control manipulations and help to create a more positive future. Why do so many people believe in conspiracy theories, and what is the evidence to support them? What is the basis for the wide belief that we are now in a ‘New Era’ of massive change and consciousness shift? Why is there such huge but officially undeclared interest in paranormal phenomena from authorities and religions? How does all this tie together and explain the agendas of control and surveillance in the West, and what can we do?

An inspirational book that was written with my friends in mind. With my knowledge of life and friendly supportive words this book was put together to open peoples eyes to the reality of life and the way we live it. I believe everyone should have the right to choose freely what they believe in and how they perceive what reality is, hoping that in reading this book it will give them some insight to what life is truly about. I hope if you enjoy reading this book that you will look out for my next one.

I purpose to treat this subject in the following manner: First, I shall endeavour to trace the several kinds of Evidence and Reasoning up to their first principles; with a view to ascertain the Standard of Truth, and explain its immutability. Secondly, I shall show, that my sentiments on this head, however inconsistent with the genius of sceptiscism, and with the practice and principles of sceptical writers, are yet perfectly consistent with the genius of true philosophy, and with the practice and principles of those who are allowed to have been the most successful in the investigation of truth: concluding with some inferences or rules, by which the more important fallacies of the sceptical philosophy may be detected by every person of common sense, even tho he should not possess acuteness or metaphysical knowledge sufficient to qualify him for a logical confutation of them. Thirdly, I shall answer some objections; and make some remarks, by way of Estimate of scepticism and sceptical writers. I divide my discourse in this manner, chiefly with a view to the reader's accommodation. An exact arrangement of parts is necessary to confer elegance on a whole; but I am more studious of utility than of elegance. And though my sentiments might have been exhibited in a more systematic order, I am apt to think, that the order in which they first occurred to me is the most natural, and may be the most effectual for accomplishing my purpose.
