Year 2017: the young scholar Lucia Balleani, arranging and classifying the texts of the library of the Hoenstaufen Foundation, starts working in the old palace that had been the residence of the noble Baldeschi-Balleani family, of which she is a direct descendant. A series of visions linked to what happened to Lucia Baldeschi, of the same name, will lead the reader to discover with her an interesting story that took place in the same place 500 years before. During the Renaissance Jesi is rich in art and culture and where new and sumptuous palaces are built on the ruins of the ancient Roman city, lives a young countess, Lucia Baldeschi. The girl is the granddaughter of an evil Cardinal, weaver of obscure plots aimed at centralizing both temporal and ecclesiastical power in his own hands. Lucia, a person with a strong intelligence, becomes friend with a printer, Bernardino, with whom she share the passion for the rebirth of the arts, sciences and culture, which are characterizing the period throughout Italy. She will find herself caught between the duty to obey her uncle, who made her grow up and educate her in the palace in the absence of her parents, and the passionate love for Andrea Franciolini, son of the People's Capitan and designated victim of the Cardinal's tyranny. The story is also told through the eyes of Lucia Balleani, a young scholar descendent of the noble family. In 2017, exactly 500 years after the events, she discovered ancient documents in the family palace, and reconstructed the complex history of which traces had been lost.

Once they know this, they go on a dangerous trip where they have to fight evil forces that want to end the curse. With hard work and the support of their unwavering friendship, the three find secret keys all over town. Each key brings them one step closer to figuring out what's going on in the tower. Their trip tests how brave, smart, and good at making friends they are. They discover that what really makes magic is the power of shared belief and good goals, not old spells or mysterious objects. At the end of their search, they find that the tower's guardian, a ghost, is linked to the curse and holds the key to breaking it. In a spectacular finish, the kids free the town from the sorcerer's spell by ringing the tower bell with good faith. Chapter 1: The Mystery Begins Happiness and laughter could always be found in the middle of Whispering Meadows, a small but active neighborhood, especially among the kids. They used to play hide-and-seek for hours in the long, whispering grasses in the fields, which is where the town got its name. Another popular thing to do was to enjoy the beautiful sounds of the bell tower, which was right in the middle of town. This tower was very old and very tall. It had beautiful bells that rang out soothing melodies and a clock face that sparkled in the sun. It looked like the sun was working harder than normal to break through the clouds when it rose. The gardens, which used to be a riot of color with flowers of every shade, were tired and wilted, as if they had heard the scary bells and were feeling down as well. Usually, Whispering Meadows had a light and lively vibe, but today it felt heavy, like there was some unsaid fear or excitement. The kids also noticed the change, even though they always knew that their favorite town had fun things waiting for them around every turn. The fields where they had played so freely before were not as appealing. The shadows were longer, and the grass was screaming warnings instead of secrets to be found. But nobody in the town, not even these kids, was afraid, so they did what they needed to do. They were interested in the mystery that the dying flowers, the changing bell tower chimes, and the dark sky created. While waiting for the extraordinary Reverend Timas to take choir practice in the village church, one Thursday evening in September, 13 year old Chrissy Danvers and her best friend Joan Parsons catch a glimpse of a mysterious shadow pass by the Church bell tower window. Their continued investigation leads the girls through more adventures than they ever imagined, taking them into dark and dangerous places, one of which led to a near fatal accident for one of the two. But their determination to solve the mystery that is unfolding before their very eyes finally brings about rewarding results which helps reunite and restore good fortune to a very needy local family and gives Chrissy some useful growing up lessons.
