The Specifics Of Communication In Relation To Sexuality Iii Helping Professions In Relation To Sexuality Including Persons With Intellectual Disability Readiness For Practice

The publication expands the researched issue of helping professions in relation to sexuality with the topic of the individual's personality and his attitude to sexuality in the context of the need for readiness for professional practice. It is scientifically focused on research into attitudes, beliefs and values related to human sexuality, including people with mental disabilities, from the perspective of representatives of the helping professions. The topic is supported by opinions on communication problems on sexual issues in general, as well as opinions on abilities and skills to discuss and pass on information in the field of human sexuality, including people with mental disabilities. We consider it necessary to improve the professional readiness of persons for helping professions in relation to human sexuality in the level of knowledge and professional didactics, because the results of the research showed the respondents perceived insufficient professional readiness.

The publication is another continuation of thematic communications about sexual life in selected helping professions. It targets the general population, including people with mental disabilities. Insurance of basic needs including human sexuality in accordance with modern pedagogy and psychology. Our motto ""It would be less of a problem if you were to communicate more about sexuality,"" sets the direction for the development of communication about sexuality. On selected topics: the acceptance of homosexuality in societies and the problem of communication about it, as well as communication with legal representatives on sexual issues, influences the view of the need for further education in the field of human sexuality. The publication presents selected topics from the realized empirical research, in connection with the discovery and identification problem in the attitudes and skills of future experts.

Individuals with disabilities are often “desexualized” in our society, yet they have the same need for intimacy, self-worth, and social belonging as people without disabilities.
